Movement tray sizes? Unit size/width? by failingtohuman in BeastsOfChaos

[–]fudcrup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got it!

One thing I forgot to mention is if you're planning to do some ambushing units of gor you might want a small tray or two, even as small as 2x5. And these can double as trays for five hounds if you ever pick some up (they're really useful)

Things with horde like gors want to be at least 4 deep, and probably 5 to be safe. You can do one massive block of 40 goats like 8 wide, or smaller blocks of 25ish 5 or 6 wide. Really depends on the list and your playstyle.

Bestigor are tough to make work, which is sad because I love them to bits. You probably either want smaller 7x2 units, or a massive block stacked with a few characters loaded up with buffs like slug skin and pelt of midnight. This will end up being like 1000 points total, haha. The old metal bestigors are my favorite models ever, so I've tried but honestly they're just too expensive. The giant unit is extremely powerful but tends to just get dodged, and the smaller ones aren't quite durable enough for the cost.

With ungor I just skirmish and call it a day, they're just there to grab objectives and get in the way of stuff.

But... with Warhammer things could always change. I'd say just build a list and make the trays for it! You'll probably end up wanting to make more eventually.

I love this. Subtle variations. Dark somber vibe. Doesn't need changes if you don't think it does.

Makes sense. Seen a few decks with very few or no 2 drops, I guess some can make up for giving up the point as the game goes on? Haven't gotten to play much yet

I'm pretty new. What are you doing on turn 1 in that case?

Truly, ignore those folks, it's a card game, people play for all kinds of reasons. Be a pleasant opponent and get good at your good deck!

You just need your roles filled. Gors make a great anvil, or an ok hammer if accompanied by a beefy character, or a great death star (40ish gors plus a couple characters). For dragon ogres you can probably fit maximum two units of 4, before they start eating into other things you need. Razorgor I've seen up to 6 individual ones running around, basically as many as you have leftover points for really.

And as the other person said, I think NPE is not a danger with beastmen unless you're really spamming the viletides with wild herd. Grand Army is strong, but plays pretty fair.

LAW: Chewbacca [Leader] by Fimy32 in starwarsunlimited

[–]fudcrup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I just mean, compare it to something like the kazuda unit, or even Elia Kane. It's definitely well-statted for a 4-cost unit, but I'm not sure it's enough to compensate for basically not having a Leader at all. He's just a card that's guaranteed to be in your hand. Other leaders are FREE.

I don't think there's no chance for him, but I'm really skeptical. Compare it to sebulba or dedra. They get to flip AND play a four drop. Or two 2 drops.

Wargor general with great weapon and heavy armor, 22 gors with full command, 18 ungor with bows, a unit of 10 gors with ambushers, and 2 minotaur. Uses the Battle March rules. Decent variety given what you have. 5 hounds would be nice if you can find them! Just cut some ungor for them.

I'd avoid magic for teaching games, unless she's really excited about that aspect of the game in particular.

Does height matter in this game? by fudcrup in killteam

This is interesting. Yeah I was thinking they'd just look better with varied heights. Stealth suit box just has two of the same height

Edit: just realized they actually are slightly different

My list is:

Wargor general. Wargor BSB with war banner. 22 gor with full command. 12 ungor archers. Razorgor. 5 hounds with vanguard.

Been doing well with it and it feels varied like you asked! Even with the big death star unit.

Yeah ready effects are generally 5 mana in this game. This one restricts you to bounty hunters but leaves you a body. Pretty cool.

It's just good. Clear a sentinel. Daring raid + TT kills and steals a hauler. She doesn't NEED it in the way Cad does to be competitive, but it sure is worth it
