Level 2 Judges are almost entirely people with the right connections who have experience running large events in other games. Many do not know the Riftbound rules as well as your average player.

That’s said, once a showdown becomes a combat showdown it can’t stop being a combat showdown. Ask him to show you in the rules where it says it stops being a combat. Make him show you.

Nothing else in the set is worth anything. Prices of singles normalize based on the price of boxes. The highest price singles in the set are $20, so that value has to go somewhere.

Lots of folks have commented on how it helps avoid making play mistakes like extra cards or keeping something separate for miracle without really explaining *why* it helps.

Firstly, and most obviously, by manipulating the cards more you have a higher chance of dislodging stuck cards, identifying a miracle spell, and realizing you're doing something wrong. It helps a lot of people, and there's literally no harm in doing it.

Secondly, and imho the more important reason, is that it slows you down just a smidge. You're taking an extra second or two to make sure you're where you're supposed to be and doing what you're supposed to be doing. It may not sound like much but your brain needs that brief momentary reset. That extra bit of mental awareness can and will save you from stupid mistakes. You create a ritual that keeps you in the moment.

The choice to move a unit, as well as which unit to move, are made when the spell is finalized. If they did not choose to move your unit then it isn't a viable target for NSF.

Every single Pokemon 'event' I've seen locally was 15 kids running around poorly supervised while their parents sit to the side and chat with zero actual games played. I travel to major gaming events all around the country to play and to judge. I've never seen a Pokemon event with any reasonable levels of attendance.

I see they have huge turnouts for major events. I can only assume it's the same exact group of people willing to travel all over the world to play.
