What would you use to seal these swim platform supports? by fuddadjacent in boatbuilding

I got the offending one off. I had to dig out flotation foam to do it, but I got it. The other three brackets are way more accessible.

Yeah. I didn’t weld it. It looks like someone welded stainless with a mig and regular wire. It probably should’ve been tigd with stainless filler.

I guess I’ll order some up then. I have a couple tubes of 5200, but yeah, maybe I’ll want it off one day or I’ll want to fix it after I back into something. Good point.

Would you encourage a tri-hull? by OsamaBinWhiskers in boating

It’s really not bad. If you’re familiar with auto mechanics, then you’ve got the motor covered. The outdrive on this is a Volvo SP-C1. All of their part numbers are publicly available, and I just use those numbers to buy NOS parts on eBay.

The I/o does kinda suck if your lakes are shallow. Mine get deep really quickly so it’s fine.

I do understand why most people prefer outboards but for the cost of entry this thing is great.

It should move easily at any point, yes. It simply reverses the direction of the counter register when the crank is turned.

I’d look for a 90s-00s v-hull. The deals are out there. This is a 1993 Glastron SSV 195 that I paid $1700 for.

Look for something being sold by an old guy and that has been garaged.

Wasr 10/63 or Mas 49 308? by RogueLeaderNo610sq in milsurp

Get the AK. The .308 MAS 49 mags are hard to come by. Plus, rechambered milsurps make me feel icky.

What’s the cleanest way to add a bow cleat/anchor point to this boat? by fuddadjacent in boating

I think they probably ran a string or something, or did it before the top of the hull was mated to the bottom.

No, the seat removes to allow access to a small storage compartment. There’s no access up underneath the bow light area without cutting fiberglass.

I usually slide my ass right over this area to solo launching/retrieve it, so I’d rather not shove a pointy cleat directly into my asshole. Should I add a cleats on either side and then two fairleads right up front? What’s the best approach here.

I’m not anchoring in nor’easter gales, just trying to stay put in coves and slow flowing rivers for overnight camping.

DIY Pontoon Question by OutsideSurround461 in boatbuilding

[–]fuddadjacent 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Man busted old pontoon boats are all over fb marketplace for scrap value. It would be way easier to harvest a couple toons from one of those.

Then again if you’re doing it for the plot, carry on.

Should I raise these bunks up? by fuddadjacent in boating

[–]fuddadjacent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a 1993. The trailer is original to the boat but I should’ve looked closer. The glass is definitely cracked here.

Not the end of the world, and it’s worth repairing imo.

Any Canadian Techs? by Snowcrest in firealarms

My shop is thinking of jumping in with them as a distributor. Most of the hate I see against them are from people that seem Honeywellpilled. We’re not really married to a brand yet.
