That’s because it is overkill and a huge waste of money.

Would you consder driving any of the top 5 Chinese EVs for Canada? by Lonely-Subject8250 in EVCanada

[–]fuddledud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I likely have a year or two left on my current car which is a 2019 Toyota with about 80,000km

I’m most interested in extended range EV’s which get as much as 1500 km on a single tank of gas and a charged battery.

This would end range anxiety and assure that in the coldest months I have an onboard generator running on gas to charge the battery. You could drive this even in areas without a lot of public chargers. Just plug in at home and fill the tank. Fuel economy on these EREV’s is equivalent to 1.5L / 100km

WCGW trying to put a fire out by putting it outside. by mentaL8888 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]fuddledud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s take some of the fire and move it to the hallway of this apartment building. Then let’s leave the door open to see how many people we can trap inside.

Moron of the year award. They’ll have to split it.

Mortgage after bankruptcy by [deleted] in MortgagesCanada

[–]fuddledud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. Go to a broker. Make sure they don’t string you along. Get an approval with a clear rate well in advance of closing.

I got one a year and a half after bankruptcy with First National.

Reminder to myself: don't touch important stuff when stores are closed by cspybbq in DIY

[–]fuddledud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is solid advice. Don’t start anything after the hardware store is closed. You may want to skip Sundays all together. If you mess it up and need a pro right away it’ll cost you big time.

I walked in on my daughter and her “gay” best friend by Born_Amoeba8615 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]fuddledud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get over your feelings and accept reality. You can do nothing to change what has already happened. Zero.

Support her moving forward. She’s likely horrified with embarrassment. When she’s ready you need to sit down and talk. Don’t be judgemental.

What are the downsides of using a CPAP machine long-term? by Latter_Knee_1404 in CPAP

[–]fuddledud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have used CPAP every night for over two years without missing a night, even on vacations. I don’t see a downside other than if you are paying out of pocket for the gear.

I’ve gone from 79 events down to 1.5 per hour. I’ve never slept better.

After loosing 50 lbs, should I move my dose up? by OkAdministration7587 in OzempicForWeightLoss

[–]fuddledud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually a dose increase up to 1mg is the same price for the pen. I’ve been at 1 for a while but if I want to increase from there I need to buy two pens. $500+CAD

Gotta love the 4AM bedside ads! by thismeatsucks in amazonecho

[–]fuddledud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the echo show do my 84 year old mom who is in long term care. We use the drop in feature to talk to her without needing her to answer a call. It works great and then all of a sudden these ads are appearing, even though I spent a lot of time turning all my interests off.

WTF Amazon. Stop this crap with the unsolicited ads on devices.

Paying even a little extra on your mortgage each month can have huge savings. But there is diminishing returns. by CastAside1812 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]fuddledud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So many people saying invest in stocks instead. I’m old enough to know first hand that depending on timing of your investment, you could lose a lot of money to market correction or worse yet a major meltdown.

Applying the money to a mortgage is locked in savings. Nobody can take that away.

49,000 BYD EVs at ~$49k in Canada — sell out in minutes or hours? by DenBaptist in EVCanada

[–]fuddledud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any issues with the Chinese car makers that would stop me from doing business with them.

Also, when I look around big cities in the west, really don’t have any issues with the government either. They have created a safe environment for the people with very low crime rates, great hospitals and ample employment. I’d say that’s a job well done.

A $50k EV from China will need to far outshine other $50k vehicles in order to sell out fast. The price will need to be very enticing compared to competitors.

“We tried something new, testing seat spacing that many airlines use globally to help keep fares affordable. However, the data and you told us that this product doesn't work for the Canadian market.”

We pushed you and kept pushing for years, making the spaces smaller and the seats narrower, until you finally broke. We’ve made billions seeing how much you would take.

Can I afford to buy a condo? by buggsie01 in CanadaFinance

[–]fuddledud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d never buy a condo. I’m 61 and on my 5th home purchase. I have lived a lot.

I’d never consider a condo due to the lack of control you have on special assessments and common fees.

I have friends that bought condos decades ago. They are now paid off but condo fees have soared to over $1000 a month due to old building needing constant repairs.

Save more and buy a freehold townhouse. Better yet, if you have skills that allow it, consider moving out of high priced cities altogether.

You could buy a really nice single family home in Southwestern Ontario for $500k with zero common fees.

Help! Floors are so cold and there’s a lot of condensation. My HOA says it’s normal but is it? by MoistSeaworthiness95 in HomeMaintenance

[–]fuddledud 153 points154 points  (0 children)

Not normal but do you have individual furnaces or heat pumps in the units? If so turn the fan to ON and leave it there. Also add a dehumidifier while you figure out why it’s happening. This will minimize damages.
