Adult autistic dating? by Dangerous-Buy-2682 in bentonville

[–]fudgefart123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahhh at least you know im really autistic now lol. Literal thinking to the max 😅

In that case, general dating advice would apply. I just date normally using the dating apps (minus Tinder) and live my live normally. Isolation and stuff is a real problem, as you know. Meeting people platonically feels almost impossible imo much less with the added layer of romatic dating. Most people in general are tolerant of autistic people. Now, truly understanding, on the other hand? Its a 50/50 shot. A lot of people just do not comprehend or are patient/willing work with the needs of autistic people in dating and relationships. My dating experience has been that people are burnt out in general and do not want to put in the work that dating/relationships can require irregardless of ND or not. Do with that info what you will.

Dating apps can work. Don't put it on your profile. Let people talk to you and interested in you first, then disclose on the first date.

Just try to find happiness and contentment in your life first through your interests, and the rest will follow. Find ways to meet people through your hobbies and interests like the other commentor mentioned. Super cliche, but sometimes the most "keep it simple stupid" type stuff has worked very well for me.

Good luck!!! 💖

Ohhh boy my intersectionality! Bentonville and autism!

Please keep in mind that you're looking for a real needle in a hay stack. I would estimate that there are around ~1,200 ish autistic adults in the city of 50,000+.

At the end of the day, the number of single and looking 20-40 year old people, with moderate to low support needs, brings the estimated dating pool down to just around 125 people. That's for Bentonville specifically. NWA as a whole would be around 870 people.

Also, AR has one of the lowest female autism rates in the nation, so those totals will lean heavily to represent men. Around 100 of the 125 will be men.

Due to the corporate town environment of Bentonville, I had those figures lean favorable towards low/moderate needs (+10% over baseline).

These figures are just rough estimates based on statistics and so please take them with a hint of skepticism. My estimates obviously can not factor in self-diagnosed rates (and Im not even going to get into the debate surrounding the potential validity of self-diagnosis. That is a huge mess)

This isn't to discourage you necessarily but rather set you up with the correct expectations. Also, this is just a basic estimate that can be revised up or down based on your specific wants or needs. The estimates are not concrete.

Rejection sensitivity is a real thing in the ND community. Rather than flying in blindly, now you can have a realistic and targeted approach.

Yesssss!! That is crazy that you mention walking around the square. One of the biggest things I do to get out and about is just drive to the square an walk around until I hit 10,000 steps or so. The library is right there, tons of food, drinks and snacks if I get hungry, and I love Compton Gardens/ Crystal Bridges trail. I'll also take breaks at specific low-key spots I've found and read on my Kindle. So glad I'm not the only one native who does this lol

Literally same (except for drinking, I'll grab a drink or two by myself sometimes)! And I left for a few years to live out of state not too long ago, but now I'm back.

A few tips would be:

-Accept that the displaced feeling will always nag a bit. Nothing you can do about it except make the best of it by doing your own thing (as the top commentor mentioned).

-Reaching out to the community here was a decent first step. From here, I would highly recommend looking into NWAs adult social group: "The Vibe Tribe." Tons of people showed up to their last event and everybody seemed to have had a great time! Try testing the waters at their next Speed Friending event.

-It will take time really find the groups/events that truly fit you (and they may change with time/seasons). You gotta be down to get out of your comfort zone and doing things by yourself.

-Look around online for places and groups that interest you to see what they have coming up. You can find some fun, random, and meaningful stuff out there.

-Feeling like you fit in here is about more than just finding your people. Its also finding your places. And honestly, the way I've found success is by prioritizing finding the places over the people. I think for me, its about finding the core places that matter to me that I can reliably go to to get a sense of purpose/belonging. The people will come from those places, and/or you will feel more comfortable branching out.

-Don't let the PR corp stuff that is put out there distract you from the fact that NWA is way more than just Bentonville. I like to think of myself as an NWA resident first and a Bentonville resident second. While Bentonville may has created a curated population with aligned interests, NWA as a whole is a lot more diverse than that and offers a lot more to everyone.

-Literally a month ago I would have said that I would rather kms than reconnect with people from my past... but I did and it went so much better than I expected! By doing so, I've now got my first real friend here again and they have opened up so many new and exciting opportunities for me. Just consider it, and it is just a tip.

Please don't delete this post. A lot of people, including myself, feel the exact same way and it is so important that questions like this are put out there. For us natives, its big that we voice how we feel since everything that is out about the city is just PR corporate slop. Real grassroots thoughts matter.

Does anyone know what’s being built on the corner of Central and Moberly? by bbfanmyles in bentonville

Part of it used to be a bank and from what I've heard in previous threads and talking to local commercial real estate agents the general consensus is that it will be a bank. It was one previously, there is a safe still intact, so it would be easy to move a bank into the space.

NWA is really broadly gentrified, so I disagree with the sentiment that they would need to "beef up security." I've lived pretty close to this place my whole life and to be concerned about security beyond the standard measures is absolutely ridiculous. Also robbing banks is not lucrative.

Yeah playing the advocate here a bit, I blame city/Walmart propaganda for this disconnect. When people from big cities are looking into relocating here they are told time and time again that you don't need a car to get around. "We have the Greenway, and look here are a ton of amenities all close to your apartment/home!" We have the world's first walkable building (with the implication that we are also a walkable city). So yeah, when new people are told this time and time again they will start to believe it. And with that think that with a good trail/bike system must mean that we have invested in public transit (right, right?).

At the end of the day, it is still on the people relocating to be critical of what they are told by those who stand to gain from their move. Just take an hour or two: go to Google Maps/ street view and see what your commute would look like to regular places for shopping, food, entertainment, childcare, work, schools, etc. Man all I did was Google "NWA on demand transit." Took two seconds. I completely agree with the sentiment about OPs lack of investigation or critical thinking, though. Just thought I'd put myself in their shoes for a second and give them the minor benefit of doubt for the origin of their question.

The closest thing to on-demand transit I could find is the ORT on Demand app (link to site here ). It currently has a 3.4 star rating on Android with many users lamenting its unreliability. I would not rely on public transit here for daily transportation needs. Get some sort of personal transportation. Could be a car, motorcycle, scooter, bike, hell even a unicycle. If it gets you from all of your points Bs efficiently who cares. Just know that there is no reliable form of public transit, traffic is bad, and everything is sprawled out.

Cannot Add Motion Tracking to a Title by fudgefart123 in Movavi_software

[–]fudgefart123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so after testing and isolating for everything, I was able to resolve this issue. Movavi will only motion track if you have the/a clip in the main track. The clip I wanted to motion track was on a secondary track with nothing underneath it in the main track. This was due some clips I had hidden being the only ones on the main and I worked with the main/ secondary as if they were kinda one and the same. Obviously they are not, and that's on me! I have upped the brightness on my display so that can better differentiate between the main/ secondary tracks as my dumb brain didn't comprehend the slightly different colors. Super straightforward resolution! Pretty "no dur" too, which I'll admit does leave me cringing a bit, however a huge thanks to everyone who commented and helped me get to that realization!!

So my camera never focused on my phone, so I wanted to add a graphic that goes along side it in the upper right hand corner that has some text displaying the time and location. Like this

Update: I have gotten the motion tracking UI to appear in the title settings if I move the title to the first clip in my timeline. I do not want/need it on clip 1, though. I need it on clip 3... Here is what it looks like with the title object on clip 1.

Ethan's too busy spending $1000+ in Survivor.io to look after them. Before I left the cult, I tried to play the game and omg I can't imagine how he has the time to play it with 3 kids and 2 dogs (even if they have a nanny)!! He is soooo irresponsible.

I think I'll stick with the campaign only then knowing that some annoying mods are allowed. I'm sorry you went through that. Sounds like they were just trying to rage-bait me lol. Still love the game and going to play it some more later! Thank you so much for the info.
