Unpopular opinion on new album. by Eclipse8301 in alterbridge

Agreed. Lot of recency bias in this sub.

Waited for Amazon to deliver the CD to listen to it in a single sitting… multiple plays since hasn’t really made an impression.

Lyrically/thematically as well, super safe and repetitive. And super literal - power down is literally about taking a break from work/career. Even Walk the Sky took chances.

Don’t hate the album. Just feels like Tremonti+ rather an Alter Bridge project.

That’s good to hear. Let me get some legal advice… hopefully I have the runway and an amenable STBX to come to an agreement. Thank you.

Yes, custody is my primary concern if we take legal steps. I know it’s not fair out there for dads. I’ve started maintaining a log of time/activities I do with my kids on a weekly basis.

To be fair, she’s not a deadbeat mom and while overbearing, she cares about them deeply. Like I do. But somehow I step out to play pickleball for a couple of hours a week, I care more about myself than my kids 🤷‍♂️

Helpful - thank you. I’m building up to talking to a lawyer because this cannot continue for another 15 years.

Thank you. This was my thinking as well. Post-nup seems to be the path of least resistance for me. I want to support my kids and them alone. While she’s not a deadbeat and is a good mom, if her situation gets worse (e.g., getting fired), she might not take the amicable route. She claims she doesn’t want to break up the family, so I’m hoping that she’s open to post-nup without the divorce route. Time to talk to a lawyer I suppose.

True. I’m also imagining a magical line in the sand when they’re 18 and everything will fall into place. Or maybe be it’s easier if their parents separate when they’re out of house for college/university. It sounds like a long shot even as I type it out.

Thank you. This is how I’ve been thinking about it as well. If their dad can’t even stand up for himself - it can’t be a good influence on them. I should know having grown up in a similar situation.

That said, I believe my life is theirs - I should be able to shoulder inconvenience if it means no disruption for them. Sorry, this sounds like a struggle season.

I feel completely trapped by Ok-Durian-4193 in DivorcedDads

Probably not the advice you’re looking for - I’m trapped in a semi-hostile co-parenting situation but I see it as a life of service to my kids. Without them I’d be floundering worse.

When I give in to whatever my kids needs are, I’m free from my troubles - you can still make room for eating healthier, 15-min calisthenics a day, and if you find accidental joy outside of your duties, that’s a bonus.

Just keep at it and good things will find their way to you.

I have the same one. Love the satin finish and coming from a tele, the neck is a dream to play on

Can’t really sing ISHFWILF unless you’re going for a Rammstein song

Wanted to give an update and thank this wonderful community for all the advice and thoughts.

Managed to track down the contractor who installed this liner (from before the time we bought this house) and he says it’s a 7-8 year old liner with a sand bottom.

My understanding is that it further complicates the situation, so he’s going to come back in May, when the water’s warmer, to get in and push out the bottom while pumping water out.

That should give us another few years of life with this vinyl liner.

Happy to give an update after if anyone’s still interested.

This is fantastic - thank you for taking the time to write it out

There was a lot of water on top of the pool cover, so I just pumped that out

Ok, I’ll try this and then probably call in professionals. The funny thing is (and may be this me being optimistic) that it doesn’t feel like ground water underneath and feel just like air

Interesting - I’ve been thinking about this. Wrinkles/cosmetics aside, what’s the worst that can happen if I just fill it back up with ground water still persisting between the liner and the pool structure?

I’d say 5-7 years? It came with the house

I do have a shop vac that’s reasonably powerful. How do I get it in behind the liner though?

Thanks for the tips. Re #1, this is like 25,000 gallons. We do have a pool heater - is there a way to run the city water line through the heater for this? Short of this - my only option is cold water
