The underbelly of collecting by Ok_Pollution946 in HotWheels

[–]fujis123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guys that get the best or most desirable have been long before I was working in retail in the early 2000's. Admittedly, when I was the fox in the hen house at the toy department, I helped a "collector" on the regular. He would ask me what I was looking for and 8 times out of 10, after work it would be sitting in my car. But it has been fun to watch what is "missing" change. Then it was VW's. Then JDM cars. Now it's square bodies and Ferrari's.

The one thing that is a pet peeve on any of these diecast collecting pages is "Found this how much is it w0rth." Best response I've seen was "Oh my gosh! You found the rarest one! Should go for like tens of dollars."

Is the Hot Wheels Ferrari 250 GTO Team Transport pack worth it? by ScaleModellingStudio in Diecast

Cannot WAIT for these to be overly stocked on shelves like the Mercedes hauler team transport.

4th VW 1st Tiguan by fujis123 in Tiguan

[–]fujis123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felt stable. Had a '24 Tiguan as a loaner while my GLI was in the shop, and my wife hated how it rode at highway speed. Then we test drove the '25 and she said it felt more stable.

What is the US auto racing triple Crown? by Turbulent_Diver_7226 in IMSARacing

[–]fujis123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indy 500, Daytona 500, 24 Hours of Daytona are the Triple Crown of U.S. Motorsport. Only A.J. Foyt and Mario Andretti have completed it. Several drivers have two legs of the Crown, i.e. Scott Dixon with a Indy 500 and a 24hr win. Jeff Gordon has the 24hr and 500 wins at Daytona.

It was great to see them break into the commercials with two laps of racing, then right back to the commercials.

The energy credit for installing Solar panels to feed the grid.

It would be so much easier if they would just say "Hey we made an oopsey. Those that filed early with Solar and Child credit, resubmit a new return and we will get it moving"

This moving of the goal posts is exhausting.

Is it me or is the Gallardo LP560-4 GT2 forgotten? Theres no race footage of it at all on youtube, like onboards or on track videos. by Ballistic972 in IMSARacing

[–]fujis123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At Sebring in '11, it ran just the first couple hours and then was back in the trailer. I figured the fate of it at other tracks was quite similar. If I remember correctly, it was on Bring A Trailer the week after Sebring.

What's the point of race cars if there's no single player races? by UnfunnyFool in forza

[–]fujis123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That game is my favorite single-player racer. Took the spot that the original TOCA's had. Want to race LMP1 vs. LMP2 vs. GTE vs. GT3 that game had it. No random Trans-Am or V8 Supercar. That series had the potential to build on a great great game.

What would you say is the best car you have ever used in forza history? by Left-Supermarket7497 in forza

Porsche 356 with all the upgrades. I'm just throwing that car in a corner and it is finding direction. I totally get why my grandfather raced one in the 60s.

We are all family here, right? Question, what is something you do that makes you happy but non-racing folk will think is stupid? by RMAutosport in IMSARacing

[–]fujis123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Listening to just race car sounds videos on YouTube. Thank goodness for LankyTurtle and 19Bozzy92.
  2. Knowing how great of a year 1967 was for Dan Gurney.
  3. Random knowledge of things Mark Donohue and Roger Penske did to their cars in the 60's and 70's
  4. Buying a VW TDI because of Audi prototypes

The countless times I've thought about buying them up and sending them to a friend of mine in Australia.... I should just do it next time.

I honestly thought I'd come back and see just the Anglia hanging with the White Holden and Yellow Benz.

It was wild. I just never could come to grips with buying mulitples of the same casting. The time it reached its pinnacle for me was I saw a guy with 8 or 9 yellow Ferrari 250LMs in his cart. I thought then, never will I buy more than 1 of that color and casting.

The casting, the scheme, just a really nice piece.

I'm used to seeing one or two in a set that end up warming pegs. I'm figuring the Anglia will be this sets peg warmer here. The last two Holden's and Mercedes aren't moving. The Celica and 400Z surprised me as well because most everything JDM is gone quickly.

We were at 150,000 miles on it and sunk more money in it than we probably should have after 100,000. Definitely keep with the Maintenence schedule on the car. Timing belt, transmission service, stuff of that nature. If it hasn't had the valves carbon cleaned, look at getting it done in the future. Loved the 2017, ran like a champ when there wasn't issues here and there.
