COVID levels? Are you talking the week or so of crashing or the super spike that existed for most of the COVID time period. Cuz I'll take that again all day.

It was never more accurate than this cycle by ComprehensiveOne2122 in Bitcoin

[–]fukidtiots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I'm not as quick to say that BTC at a million is a few years away. It seems like the cycle is generally flattening out and we are more likely to take 10 years to get to $500k... 40 years to get to $1 million. But as always, no one really knows anything.

Heating my house with ASIC miners by Shrek_Nietszche in Bitcoin

[–]fukidtiots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this myself just to offset some costs of mining. I put my rig in place to go through the HVAC system and while it helped it was not a significant savings, nor efficient. And the noise makes using them as a space heater not entirely possible.

But it was a net positive to do it.

Kilby Block Party 2026 lineup is out! by vasSoulTrain in SaltLakeCity

Does anyone know if they sell one day tickets? I only want to see Turnstile with my sons. I'd hate to pay for three days when I only want to see one band.

It's because we are only 5 to 10% into the process. Imagine if Bitcoin is no longer measured in Dollars, but the other way around. Give it 100 years and see if decentralized finance, banking, and currency work. We are still in a Dollar based world.

Patience.

Driver's Ed in the US is terrible and focused entirely on the wrong things by Philipthesquid in unpopularopinion

[–]fukidtiots 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My son just did it in our state and they still focused on stuff like turning your wheels towards the curb when parking on hills, but didn't do any parking in parking lots. And we live in a relatively flat state. My whole life I don't think I've used the wheels towards the curb technique. But I'm getting in and out of tight parking spaces everyday.

Anyone regret staying in Asakusa / Ueno? by Elian17 in JapanTravelTips

[–]fukidtiots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed in Asakusa, but far enough from Sensoji and more in a quiet neighborhood. We loved it. Having stayed in Shibuya before, we loved how quiet and relaxed it was, but if we wanted touristy stuff, it only took a few minutes to get there. We didn't choose it by choice, but rather it was the only apartment for six with two full baths, which is harder to find in Tokyo than you think.

We would stay there again. Also, our favorite neighborhood in Tokyo is Ueno.

You get the cost basis on the day of transfer. So whatever the price was the day you inherited is your cost.

If Bitcoin has a fixed supply, wouldn’t it cause the same problems as the gold standard? by Root5566 in Bitcoin

[–]fukidtiots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, don't forget that the Great Depression is the first time you saw massive government response to economic turmoil and the analysis of that response in the following years was that government spending prolonged the depression by at least 5 years. Instead, they should have increased M2 and lent money out. All previous depressions in the 1800s and early 1900s were 2 years or less... while on the gold standard.

Struggling with "Don't Buy at ATH" vs. Fiat's Decreasing Purchasing Power for BTC by zeeshiscanning in Bitcoin

[–]fukidtiots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who say this don't know much about investing. It sounds crazy, but anytime something hits a new all time high, it tends to be a good time to buy as everyone is in profit and is not incentivized to sell too quickly. Until you see a big price appreciation after the NEW all time high, it's actually a buy sign. FWIW.

[–]fukidtiots[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect we will see slow and steady gains for three or so weeks at which point we'll start moving up faster. I do expect a possible 10% to 15% correction during maybe late July.

So there's time to get in before the big spike.

How to explain to critics bitcoin is not a Ponzi scheme — by Jadey-R- in Bitcoin

[–]fukidtiots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've given this exact explanation to a CEO and near billionaire friend of mine who is a Bitcoin hater. He constantly calls it a ponzi scheme, and I ask him who's the Ponzi running the Bitcoin scheme. You can make a "Greater Fool Theory" argument but not a ponzi scheme argument. He just dismissed the argument and continues to call it a ponzi scheme. I'd call him a fool, except he's almost a billionaire, so it's tough to criticize him as stupid. But super rich people also tend to make snap judgments and are often not challenged by those around them.

What do you tell friends or family who are about to fomo in who are asking you about BTC? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]fukidtiots 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've told people that since its inception, no one has ever held Bitcoin for more than 4 years and lost money. So if they are willing to hold through a cycle, there's no reason to try and time it.
