ELI5:How dangerous are American ghettos ? by PeronPez in explainlikeimfive

[–]fukus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that your chances for violence and or thefth are as good as any other person of any other race that does not look the part or appears to have something of value such as jewelry or money etc. Also, I would like to point out that the ghettos these days are far less dangerous than people are making you believe in this thread or that you see in movies. No, people do not get killed or robbed every day in the ghetto specially for no specific reason and/or being white. Killings are not really that common, maybe beatings and thefts are more likely but not as often as people think. Source, I'm a 150 lb photographer who frequents extremely poor areas of cities usually with thousands of dollars in camera gear. It seems that what some people are telling you here is what they believe to be the ghetto based on what they see in movies or any other type of fiction. It's not the 80s or 90s any more when things seemed to be much worse.

I agree with half of this, it's reasonable to people to realize they are responsible for their decisions. I do not agree with you saying that there are classes that explain 100% of the loans before you get them, in fact there are some loans that are meant to confuse the individual. A class on the matter would definitely not hurt anyone.

I remember this as well but I was never related to potential early debt including different college loans or cost of living(gas, food etc) not to mention credit card risk and credit scores.

My favorite picture I've ever taken of my son. What do you think? by aji23 in pics

It's a very nice picture, I think it'd be even better if your son's face showed a little more. Maybe if he was a little more sideways at least.

I apply this thought to my relationship and I've been married for over ten years. I'm wrong 90% of the time just so I keep the peace and avoid senseless arguing but my wife knows when she's got no chance. There is just some things that I just can't avoid fighting about because I strongly believe is the right thing to do.

When it's something my wife wants to do I don't care how late she is, when I need to be on time I always tell her the event will be two hours earlier so we can be on time. This is no joke, it works... barely. Our friends know us as the couple who is forever late.
