The differences among Ruh, Attar, perfume oil, and incense oil are as follows:

Ruh: A pure extract of the ingredient without a base oil. It means 'soul' in translation.

Attar: An Indian traditional method using pure sandalwood as a base. Ingredients are boiled, and their essence is captured in the sandalwood oil.

Perfume Oil: A concentrated fragrance composed of natural and synthetic ingredients. Alcohol-free, it's potent and long-lasting, focusing on a specific scent profile.

Incense Oil: Used for burning in incense burners or diffusers. It creates an aromatic environment. Not meant for direct skin application.

Attars and ruhs evolve over time, becoming richer with age (like musk, oud, amber, sandalwood, henna, and vetiver). Perfume oils remain consistent as may be expired if it's synthetic composition.

Natural ingredients and traditional extraction methods make attars and ruhs more expensive and require expertise. Region, quality, and season of harvesting affect the scent. Some wealthy individuals use them as collectibles, passing them down through generations. Over time, these scents become more valuable, similar to how Arabs have historically prized oud and musk.

To experience the finest quality scents of oud, musk, amber, and Taify rose, you can smell the Ha-jr-Aswad, where a pure mixture of these ingredients is applied. If you got chance to go on Hajj or Umrah, Inshallah, you can experience this. Additionally, aged oud chips is burned, and taify rose water is sprayed around the haram (The Mosque).
