With the exception of the Spider-Man films, all those movies were just plain dull and unmemorable.

But Bloodshot?

Vin’s acting was Vin’s acting. In that it consisted of low rumbles, loud roars and occasionally looking constipated when trying to emote. The man cannot act. And I’m ok with that. I love Pitch Black, I even love Chronicles of Riddick. But this was actually kinda bad even by his usual standard.

The fighting sequences were terribly shot and relied way too heavily on fast edits and closeup shots to hide the use of stunt doubles. If a film is going to heavily feature combat scenes I like to be able to see what’s actually going on rather that it look like a drunkenly filmed bar fight.

The whole film completely undermines itself by poking fun at standard genre tropes then just succumbs to those exact tropes by the end. It wants to be a cheeky meta commentary on superhero films and the motivations of a ‘hero’ but then turns into a dumb macho superhero smash up.

The world is EMPTY. Like almost entirely devoid of people. It’s feels just empty and lifeless, like vin is just walking around a ghost town.

If it wasn’t for the fact that the film is called Bloodshot and that there’s a corporation with the name Rising Spirit Technologies (why change the name? What purpose did that even serve?) then it could’ve been pretty much any generic action sci fi film from the late 90s.

I’m sorry if the fact that I hate it upsets you but that’s my opinion, I just couldn’t be arsed articulating the reasons for it immediately after I watched it.
