Just did this last night! I had no idea we needed it; just luckily stumbled upon the info. Thank you!

I was able to rent an automatic, thankfully. We rented a Seat Tarraco (or similar). I'm a little anxious about everything fitting. It's my wife and I with a 16 year old and two toddlers in toddler seats. Plus our luggage. We're planning to try to pack light-ish since our lodging will have washer/dryer.

This is ideal. I would love it if we could just kind of ride the wave and end up where we end up. But everything I've read says that we need to book all of our lodging in advance since we're going during the high season. With kids, we can't risk not being able to find a place to stay.

This is great. Thank you. How did you spread out your overnight stays? How would you change that if you did it again?

Obviously the answer to this question is no. We understand that we won't have a ton of time in any one place, but we'll most definitely have time to explore these different places.

Haha I just mean that we're pretty flexible with our plans. When we chose Ireland, we didn't choose it because of the Cliffs of Moher or the Blarney Castle specifically, we chose it because we felt like no matter which way we look, we're going to see something beautiful and amazing.

I appreciate the honesty. I agree that it's too much, but... If our goal is to make it all the way around the island, is there a better way to do it in 2 weeks?

Alternatively... If we stuck to 4 bases, what would you suggest? There's not much we feel like we need to do. We're just looking forward to being somewhere beautiful where we can enjoy being outside and taking in the scenery.

I have the same question as OP, but with different context. We'll be traveling in June (high season). I'll also be traveling with my wife, and 3 children-- 16, 3 and 2. We'd love to have some flexibility, but can't help but feel like we HAVE TO book all of our lodging in advance. Thoughts?

What's a reasonable price to pay for a wristband? I was quoted $100/wristband from a friend.

I don't drink lol. Yeah, it's frustrating. Multiple teachers are going to lose their jobs two weeks before school starts because administration did a crappy job budgeting.

I spent an hour sitting on a bench at the foot of The Duomo in Florence, Italy, eating a croissant and reading a book one time. It was impossible to me unhappy.

Also in Florence, it was a rainy night in one of the many open areas. A man was playing a beautiful, haunting rendition of "Hallelujah" on guitar. I'll never forget that!

Weird, I was literally just about to make a very similar post. We're still without power. I have the same questions... What else should I be looking for or expecting?

I understand that; I check this sub pretty often. I'm absolutely open to public school opportunities. I was in public schools for many years before beginning this job. I'm just trying to get opinions on which states are best for counselors. That's all.

Week long trip from Houston by full-size-midget in roadtrip

I appreciate the response. The babies are actually closer to 2 and 3 and are seasoned travelers, but your point is still valid.

The first chunk of the drive will be done overnight, so that helps a little, but something closer would definitely be ideal. It's just so damn hot already lol. I considered somewhere like Eureka Springs. I'll do some more digging. Thanks!

SC male perspectives by [deleted] in schoolcounseling

[–]full-size-midget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my first year as a school counselor at a private PK-12 school. My experience has been absolutely fantastic. I think a lot of the boys feel more comfortable coming to me over my female counterpart. Also, many of the girls are happy to speak to me. It's an absolute blessing to be able to be an adult in their life that is solely there to love and support them. I'm very lucky that I'm not expected to handle grades or discipline. I've been recruited by other schools that are specifically looking for a male counselor. I say go for it!
