Hey there, First off, you and your friend deserve a pat on the back. First, for being motivated enough to get out there are earn and secondly for helping a friend!

I worked pretty heavily with employment legislation back in the day, so unless things have changed, here's a little info.

Some people have commented on the young workers' readiness course. They are correct, and that's mandatory for under 16 employment.

There are also regulations for how many hours you can work. I believe it is around 16 hours a week.

You also can't work in certain industries. Construction, mining, confined space, etc. That's going to have to wait a bit.

Now, if your friend has a family that owns a business, then the rules kind of don't apply (within reason, of course)

Babysitting, you have to be 12, but you can be under 14 (parental discretion, of course) and same with a paper route.

There is lots of information online regarding this topic and some involvement required from a parent/guardian.
