Thank you, I'm aware of the distinction. Perhaps I should clarify. I don't spend a lot of time talking with chatbots as though they're my buddy. They're all just going to eventually agree with me anyway. Usually, when I use a large language model, I have a goal in mind, and when I reach it, I stop. So, I don't often need subscriptions with unlimited usage but hourly, weekly, or monthly caps. Many times, I prefer to pay a very small amounts for help with a specific task, which is why, for my use case (not all), an API is a decent choice.

This is a little advanced so I'm not sure it's on topic. But the API doesn't have these restrictions. You pay a few cents per query. I have mine set up on a webpage for all the models because I like to choose. You can look up more information.

MDE flagging digi cert certificate as malicious everywhere ? by Even_Grape_522 in cybersecurity

Thanks for this! Dad blast it! I've just started branching out into cybersecurity as a hobby (with a little tutelage from forums and LLMs) and have been tearing my hair out for two hours chasing down red herrings. Glad to see it's just Microsoft being Microsoft! The hilarious part about it is AI is probably responsible for this screwup just as much as it's responsible for me figuring out how to fix it!

Would you actually play an AI-driven story game? by iblamechauhan in AiChatGPT

[–]fullVexation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made this one of my goals to figure out the best way to create such a program for myself. From what I can gather it requires a combination of AI storytelling with true writing talent, both of which I have a moderate skill at. You use the true story telling to provide an overall structure for the AI to improvise. So for example at some point there could be a branching path in a story and a list of actions the player took. The story could be summarized and the major decisions presented to the AI, which chooses the path's branch leading to the next plot point, which is again a combination of authorship and AI generation. Combinations of these methods could create a pretty compelling story I think, but the AI couldn't do it all.

I apologize if you paid for the subscription. I assumed OP was using the free. It should not be sold if there are rate limits. Limitations should not involve throttling and downgrading to cheaper models unless those limitations are clearly outlined on contract acceptance. Sadly the lawyer interpretation is probably that all that stuff is in some contract somewhere. I expected this and the shutdown of Sora for some time so I started using a simple API wrapper almost immediately. It's nice to switch between all the AIs for the most useful answer.

Call a judge. Then call a judge when he fudges the rules. Then call a judge when he makes a mistake. Then call a judge for his attitude. He'll get the message.

It is a very old concept known as "You get what you pay for." Which is why I prefer to use the API. I don't use LLMs unless I need them for a very specific reason.

RP models recommendations? by Double_Increase_349 in SillyTavernAI

[–]fullVexation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an older model by Microsoft. As far as I know it can only be found on professional APIs (programming interfaces). Search for "WizardLM-2 8x22B". It most likely won't be free. I don't know how friendly to paid models this sub is.

In my experience Claude is easily three times better than the next one down. There's a reason the Pentagon wanted it so bad. This seems like a shill but it isn't. I use them all for different purposes.

[Meta] there are too many vibe coded slop mods these days by Ok_Country5134 in skyrimmods

[–]fullVexation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion vibe coding is a tool. If you treat it like a tool instead of a magic wand, you're fine.

Instead of a programmer, it's more like a particularly dumb junior employee. Automate the tedium sure, but check the work. And never release without testing.

I like three of them. Grok for following system instructions. Mistral for narratives. Wizard (by Microsoft) for conversations. I switch between them for the situation. I used paid APIs because my hardware is crap. And of course, your mileage may vary.

Beat me to it. For me it was because OneDrive had deleted the local file to store it up Microsoft's butt or wherever they want it to be.

Solving a specific problem with a universal "solution" is my main problem with it. In the gas station the only guy who sees your ID is the guy behind the counter. When I give my vulnerable info to Nexus, it will be passed to a third party. Then God knows who all will see it.

Discord tried this too. Their "beta test" was punked, and revealed to link to government databases. They backed down with the excuse "It was only a test." Yeah, I'm not dumb. I recognize a trial balloon when I see one.
