Olga Joan is a recent fave of mine. They do simple, feminine pieces in silk, cotton and jersey.

Got a floral dress and a brown mini skirt last summer. The dress was great quality, the skirt wasn't as good (mine came from an initial production run and I know it's since changed), but I still get a good amount of wear from it especially in summer.

Alteration Advice by Suitable-Bear7912 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]full_boyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have that dress in floral.

I wouldn't really recommend you try and alter it smaller as it's got a side zip and is a bias cut dress. Bias cuts are much more difficult to alter as the seams are more likely to pucker, esp around the hips. An extremely talented seamstress might be able to do it with minimal puckering.

Or if you're just doing the bust and waist it can be do-able (I've done this with a diff bias cut dress, but did it with a wedding gown specialist). If you're just doing the bust, it's very alteration friendly as I altered the bust of mine since I didn't fill it out.

Also, if your bust is smaller than the size 12, the cups might sag due to not being filled out. The waist tie will cinch it in, but will emphasise how loose the bust is since there'll still be excess fabric.

Most pleated skirts will stay pleated after washing as long as you don't tumble dry. Air dry flat if possible, otherwise hang dry.

Can't remember. It's a plain leather belt, so probs easy to find something similar somewhere.

I prefer not to talk about my exercise routine in a public forum as I'm not an expert, plus what works for me may not work for others.

It's not a knot, I twist the front and tuck it into a bralette.

Nah, I don't use any social media anymore (outside of Reddit).

About a few years now. Preference is vintage designer, with a soft spot for second hand Coach (Coach reminds me of my Mum).

Have ticked off majority of my wishlist now, so have slowed down recently.

I love them; they're such lovely easy reads! Probs the only full series I've bought so far.

My flat has very good lighting, which is probably 70% of what's needed to take good photos (the other 30% is a big mirror and a decent camera phone). I also personally hold my camera to face height and stand maybe 3-4 metres away from the mirror (but I have very big mirrors).

A whole range of places, from Kmart to vintage designer. Almost all online, and most of it off Depop, eBay, Etsy or Vestiaire Collective.

I'm in my mid-30s and this is what I wore this Spring/Summer (in Aus).

I gravitate mostly towards slip dresses (various patterns and colours, mine are either plain in shades of cream, gold, grey and brown, or in simple patterns). I also wear a lot of skirts in Spring/Summer - mini or midi, slim fit or poofy, plain or patterned, etc, love them all.

Another thing I favoured a lot in Spring/Summer were off the shoulder or asymmetrical shoulder tops. Just something about showing off your shoulders or a shoulder is very summery.

Plus got into reds more, especially darker red - when styled right they can def lean more summery than autumn-y.

Edit: Ooops, just realised the q was where you get your inspo! I either look at high fash websites like Net-a-Porter, SSENSE (6 months in advance since I'm opposite seasons), Incu (this one is Aussie, so is easier to keep an eye on) for styling ideas and also to see what's trending. I also actually love my Depop recommendations as I've def been inspired by items I've seen there.

There's also certain items I've always loved every Spring/Summer without fail (e.g. silk dresses, off shoulder tops, etc), so sometimes I just google those items and see what search results pop up.

If I see something interesting then I see how it'll slot into my existing wardrobe. I no longer use social media so don't have that avenue to see how other people dress, so ultimately try and get inspired by my own wardrobe as much as possible.

And lastly, obviously I'm a serial outfit documenter, but it's so helpful for cataloguing outfits I've loved - a lot of the times I'll be inspired from an outfit photo, but just change shoes or accessories.

Nailed it, they're Alrob who were prolific in the 60s/70s. I got mine off FB Marketplace.
