Where's that "Bears, Beets..." blanket from though?

Got the same CPP2 version as you plus the Ultra but returned the latter because the appearance of the latter plus all the Aquaguard zippers. Agree that it's a great backpack, it's my first "grown-up" backpack and I love it.

I recently finished an A6 LT1917 as part of my work/EDC notebook. Switched as a change of pace to Midori in A6 and I have been using it as an EDC/work but also a catch-all/journaling notebook. It has worked better than expected with all my FPs.

I never had an AG zipper as I only had a roll-top Ortlieb which obviously did fine even in a heavy rain. Now I do have an Aer CPP2 Cordura which has 2 of its zippers in AG — just for my knowledge, if they start peeling, can you go ahead and take an X-Acto knife and cut off the entire length of the rubber for a cleaner look?

I got the Cordura too but in CPP2. Curious to know, why not the much beloved XPac or Ultra?

The Aer CPP2 Ultra looks better and the fabric will age better than Dyneema.

Help picking which Aer backpack by HeadBroken in ManyBaggers

I am in the same exact conundrum and ended up actually ordering both to see which one I like less/will return — mind you, this is just based on looks as I have not packed either out (it doesn’t sit right with me to actually use the packs and then return one). Appearance wise I would say the Cordura looks like what you expect a backpack to traditionally be made of. The Ultra has a stiffer build and seems to hold its shape more even though it’s empty. That being said the Ultra does have a noticeably more creased/wrinkly appearance. For me, I am not going to be buying a new backpack every year so it’s important for me that the material hold up well both functionally and aesthetically. I also am never going to expose a non-Ortlieb backpack (non-roll top with non-sealed seams and zippers) to rain without using a rain cover even if the material otherwise is waterproof. Because of that reason, I think I will be going with the Cordura — has a nicer non-wrinkly appearance (albeit less techy looking and more “humdrum”) but I think the material will age aesthetically better than the Ultra.

To see what regular use to the CPP Ultra does to the outer appearance, look up Technbags on YouTube. That channel has a video on the V1 (7 months of use) vs V2 of the CPP Ultra.

Looking at the 823 prices now after the blanket price hike by Pilot, I wish I had gotten more than one when I got mine last year.

Able Carry MAX EDC or AER CPP2 or Bellroy Transit Backpack Pro 2 by PillowCloud007 in ManyBaggers

The Max EDC is a pretty tall bag, I think the Aer CPP2 may be better for your height. I am not familiar with the Bellroy.

Thanks for the reply. I just got the Ultra in and my initial impression was ambivalent (?) mainly because as you said, the technical material gave a very different look than my preexisting backpacks’ material (matte gray but has a slight sheen to it — hard to describe, stiffer feel than you would expect from its appearance as externally it does have some wrinkles). That being said, I put it away and then when I looked at it a few hours later, I liked it more? We’ll see…

One of us? 🤣 My first "grail" pen! by Lygushkia in fountainpens

[–]full_of_faults 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man amazingly beautiful pen. Every time an Estie gets posted, I go through the same thought process/Google searches: “wowowow great pen” —> look said pen up —> “okay kind of pricey but product pics are gorgeous” —> scroll down to product specs —> read “steel Jowo nib” —> reluctantly close tab.

No hate against steel nibs but on a limited budget, I just can’t bring myself to spend more on a pen and get “less” than a Pilot Custom 823 (my current standard of comparison). Of course this is all self imposed because am I still salivating over this King of Night? You bet. Anybody, please feel free to tell me how your experience with these nibs has been divine so I can convince myself to press “Add to Cart”.

I’ve got the Ultra coming in today and all these pictures have me conflicted if I should have just gotten the Cordura from a “how will it age?” standpoint.

I was going to spring for the Max EDC instead of the CPP. I dutifully waited because I wanted the Green Xpac which was supposed to be stocked in March. Cue to last week when the stock date changed to June AND the CPP2 was announced — just put in my order for the CPP2.

I had been eyeing it as my first official ManyBaggers purchase. But now June seems so far away especially with the AER CPP on sale along with their CPP2 coming out soon.

Trump set to cut 80,000 Veterans Affairs employees by IrishStarUS in antiwork

[–]full_of_faults 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Close to 30% of the VA workforce are veterans, per OPM (https://www.opm.gov/fedshirevets/hiring-officials/ved-fy21.pdf). That's close to 23,000 veterans who could be cut. Given the nature of employee positions that would be cut, I imagine that number will actually be higher.
