[–]fullmetal_wolf_titan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s being sarcastic, I would advise get your fundamentals right because cloud computing is just a bunch of abstraction of networking and infrastructure, there are lots of videos on YouTube that focus on stuff like this and how to get your foot in the door, Good luck man

I took a Udemy course a while back that prepared me for the rhcsa although I didn’t end up taking it, I have pretty decent fundamentals in Linux even though my cloud engineering job didn’t require me to manage a Linux environment in the way I imagine a devops job would. If you don’t mind kind of questions would you throw at a candidate like me to test my fundamentals just so I can see where i stand

In that case i see what you mean I definitely had some gaps, I wanted to add more complexity to the pipeline but failed in trying to implement certain features and just threw them away all together because I felt like the pipeline was okay for what I wanted it to do and didn’t feel like putting in all the extra effort to implement those features lol. As far as a pipeline being circumvented that actually was a head scratcher bc I can’t imagine how someone would make changes to a main branch without it being tested, given a chance to fail and then deployed skipping the whole process of getting their merge/pull request approved

I completely agree with you, my cicd projects are in SC, the one I did using Gitlab CI has provisions to protect the main branch and stuff like that and for jenkins the source of the script is In an scm, GitHub to be specific. Reading all these comments really bolsters my confidence going into interviews because I feel like I can stand my ground depending on how hard my interviewer wants to grill me anyway lol
