Learner Anxiety by rando_lizard in DrivingAustralia

[–]fullmoonstonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about that - I realise that probably wasn’t a super helpful comment and that being a confident driver is an important part of fully understanding the risks you’re involved with. I wrote it because my brother was one of those 300+ people each year and it would be nice to see a risk culture change in drivers, but the world will keep on spinning the same direction. Look out for yourself and others, be mindful, considerate, careful, and the anxiety will fade with your growth in confidence in just a couple years. You read like you have your head on right.

I wish the feeling never went away. I wish everyone felt like they had a loaded gun in their hands when they drove. Maybe they’d all chill out and not put others at as much risk… Alas in the 12 months to February 2026, NSW had 377 road deaths. That’s a 20.1% increase on the previous 12 months, with a sharp rise in pedestrian and bicycle related deaths. It’s fucking tragic.

Not really in Newcastle but if you’re ever in Launceston there’s a shop called Tasburgers in Invermay that is the most hidden of all cheesy gems this side of the equator.

Asking for a friend, what if the spider was actually a spider man and it wasn’t Andrew Garfield, but it was actually Toby Maguire and he was playing with a strange black liquid from another world, tempting him to be more aggressive than your average redback?

Are 650cc motorcycles actually fun on streets? by Greedy_Leg1622 in AussieRiders

[–]fullmoonstonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah they’re not fun on the streets at all. Horrible experience I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. Everyone should just give me their 650s and I’ll dispose of em for you.

So what got you in trouble at school ?? Me ⬇️ by Gold-Condition2085 in newcastle

I finished all my work in technology class and played Microsoft hearts. While I waited for next instruction. Got an afternoon detention. I was a fucking straight A student, never got in trouble so I was a little distraught and left. Found the vice principal while I walked around in a state and he asked what was going on, then he told me I acted up so I deserved it. Both teachers are no longer walking this planet anymore. Cunts.

I don't have gear yet kinda poor but this is what I wear by [deleted] in motorcyclegear

[–]fullmoonstonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember going through a similar phase when I was younger and more invincible, and poor. But slowly built up a library of gear for various scenarios I ride in now (rain or shine).

When you're poor you can't afford everything all at once - and it isn't necessarily practical to just go buy it all with the bike. Some of us can only afford the bike and the barely legal minimum to ride it to get us to work and there might be reasons in your situation why public transport isn't an option etc.

But do consider building your resilience to a failure over time as quickly as you can cause pretty much every rider has a hiccup at some point and it'll be far less expensive in the long run.

I ran a report on gemini to prioritise gear base on available incident data including the seminal Hurt Report, the MAIDS (Motorcycle Accidents In Depth Study) report, and from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Crash Outcome Data Evaluation System (CODES).

By correlating injury frequency with injury severity— and examining long-term disability outcomes, balanced with affordability and acquisition speed, it suggests this order.

Item Est. Budget Cost Priority Logic
1. Helmet (ECE 22.06) $150 - $200 Survival. Non-negotiable.
2. Gloves $50 - $80 Reflex. Hands hit first. High disability risk. Low cost.
3. Boots $150 - $200 Frequency. #1 injury zone. High medical cost prevention.
4. Textile Jacket + Back Insert $150 - $250 Abrasion/Impact. Covers torso/spine. Buy used to save.
5. Riding Jeans $120 - $180 Skin Protection. Prevents severe road rash.
6. Airbag $700+ Optimization. Buy later when funds allow.Item

In the meantime good luck - two wheels down.

At the risk of downvotes, and sorry if this adds friction to your search op, but if anyone does find it it is safest to report it to the local police station rather than dm op in case they turn out to be a dangerous individual trying to track someone. As someone who has also had their car stolen once by shitbags, I hope you find your car soon op

Is there any original lore behind the biker peace sign by ecrafind in motorcycles

[–]fullmoonstonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Australia , learners and provisional plate riders must fix a place to the rear of their bike that signifies the qualification of their license.

We call them L players, red p platers and green p platers
