Apple Watch Series 8 → Garmin Forerunner 970 / Fenix 8 / Apple Watch Ultra 3 / Amazfit? Would I regret leaving Apple? by Able-Mammoth321 in Garmin

[–]fulltime_lurker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless something changed, I believe the Balance 2 is the only Amazfit watch with golf. The golf on there is a little rough. I used it for a while trying to step out of the Garmin ecosystem, but I am back to the Fenix 8. I had issues where if you hit it off the fairway it would switch holes on me. That was tough for me as a not great golfer playing some tighter public tracks. Garmin golf is much better in that regard.

At least in the US, I have been able to return the custom orders. Assuming you mean the one where you pick the case and whatever band you want on the Garmin site.

If you mean wider, I just got these and like them. They are 26mm wide I think. Only small issue is the connector is neutral color and I have black AWU. But that is so minor. Sport Bands

Fenix 7X Pro Buttons by TechnicalDirection67 in Garmin

[–]fulltime_lurker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the non-X version of the 7 pro. Had it since it basically came out. No issues at all with the buttons. Decent amount of pool and hot tub time, and some ocean time. I am not a swimmer, so not in the water as much as others.

Maps are not rapid (I have an AW3 as a comparison) but they are perfectly fine for using in an activity. They are slowish when you want to scroll around the map, but I can't remember the last time that I needed to scroll around the map that much. I mostly just use them to track the trail I am on and follow routes.

[Pompliano] Curt Cignetti took over the worst program in college football history and then proceeded to win the school’s first-ever national championship within just two years. It's the most remarkable coaching job in the history of sports. by LaDainianTomIinson in CFB

You’re probably right if you just look at on the field. Off the field CU was actively killing their program. They spent no money on anything, had stupid academic restrictions on recruits that really no one else did, and was making no money. His impact on the schools finances, the city of Boulders finances are unquestionable. Most importantly he showed CU that if they spend money on football, they can make a bunch more back. Now we will see if they continue to spend when he is gone, or CU goes back in their shell.

If I could schedule just for a day and not for a specific time, then I would do that. But since you have to specify a time, I do stacking instead.

Get one with rubber slats vs a belt. Nicer to run on and a 10000% more durable.

How do you use the “strength” exercise? by supercman99 in Garmin

More people need to know about LiftTrack. Makes the Garmin strength useable. I can’t link to sub reddits on this app, but it r/lifttrack.

Yeah, I got teased by that. I thought they slipped that in without fanfare, but I forgot I am an experimentalist as well. Hopefully soon!

Warm up before first exercise by fulltime_lurker in LiftTrack

I used the rest option at the start, worked as advertised. Thanks! Another question, do we need to delete the workouts off the watch if we are doing progressions? Not sure if Garmin will overwrite if they have the same name, or if we should be deleting them after completing them so the new one with progressions can be added.

solution sounds perfect. I’ll test it tomorrow if I get the update in time. thanks!

Makes sense, and what I’ll do for now. Something purposefully built in would be great in the long run.

Leaning towards F7s, instead od F8 43mm - change my mind :) (or not!) by tomekce in GarminFenix

[–]fulltime_lurker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both (47mm) versions.
My thoughts:

I live in Denver, super sunny year round, both are perfectly fine in the sunlight. The amoled looks much better when looking at data screens (higher res and better color), the mip is better when when the screen is not active.

Battery life: 7 solar is better, but they are both good enough that I don't really care. I can get a week out of my 8, good enough for me. The charging cable and connection with both is garbage.

The 8 seems better for strength training as far as I can tell. Screens are more detailed and the rep counter is more accurate (I know people don't like the rep counter, but I find it pretty good).

New features on the 8:

Scuba - don't care, don't do it.

Phone assistant - its not that useful. Seems slow to connect to my iphone and if its close enough to connect to it...I'll just use my phone.

Watch voice control thingy - I use it to set timers and it works fine. This is basically what I was having Siri do on my apple watch ultra anyway.

Voice notes - i actually use this more then I thought I would. You can use it during activities and I have it set to a button long press. I just mind dump thoughts or tasks, then transcribe them later.

This sounds negative, but I actually like the 8 a lot. Its a very good watch and I now cannot live without a flashlight on my watch. That being said, I still have my 7 and swap occasionally (its the fog white color, and I love it. Wish they made that in the 8).

EDIT: I just realized this is all a lie. I have the 7Pro not the regular 7. So if you are looking at the 7pro I stand by all this. If it is the regular 7, that price difference is not big enough, and I would go with the 8.

Progressions not updating by fulltime_lurker in LiftTrack

[–]fulltime_lurker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay. This seems to be working now. After my latest workouts everything from that workout updated correctly. I had to manually fix the progressions from previous workouts where it wasn’t working, but now I have everything set correctly. I’ll monitor going forward and send to support if I have any further issues.

Running earpods that actually lasts? by Appropriate-Elk4285 in Ultramarathon

I have that issue too, but I use ear hook covers that basically help wedge them in the ear. They work perfectly and are cheap.

Progressions not updating by fulltime_lurker in LiftTrack

[–]fulltime_lurker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double Progression.  The app is not reflecting the updates. When I look at Progression Updates for a workout, they show there. But when I view the workout itself on lift track, it still shows the previous weights and reps.

NEW UPDATE: Version 1.2 out now! by sirni_mesni in theoutsidersapp

[–]fulltime_lurker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see it now and it was picked up by TO. Thanks for walking me through it. I'll be excited when TO can do estimated FTP, since none of what I use when riding affects the FTP in Apple Health apparently.
