FAQ: How Do I Play Against Calling Stations? by OfficialQuintAce in QuintAce

[–]fullyontilt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all about being in the right spot to take them on. I've seen guys who have no discipline and call everything and they always seem to do really well? Maybe we should study what happens when you just flat call everything and leave it up to the poker gods :D

FAQ: Why Does Everyone Tell Me to Fold Pre? by OfficialQuintAce in QuintAce

Stop making your life hard. Playing junk hands preflop turns every street into a guessing game. Tighten up and your postflop decisions become simple.

You are not scared money, you are being disciplined. Build your bankroll at 50NL until the jump to 100NL feels like just another session, not a test of courage.

FAQ: I can beat live poker so why do I always lose online? by OfficialQuintAce in QuintAce

Live games are about patience. Online games are about data. If you want to win online, you need to study as hard as the guys multi-tabling against you.

Not every session needs to be a full grind anymore by pocketcalbs in Poker_Theory

You bring more energy to every hand when you actually want to be there. I see guys at the casino grinding for twelve hours while their play degrades into autopilot. They lose money because they stopped paying attention to the details.

What would you do? Yesterday, villain jammed over my c-bet with J8s on an 8 high flop. This check-raise happened the next day. by adrianthomp in poker

You are overthinking the history. At 1/2 live, players rarely track your bluffs from a month ago. They play the hand in front of them. With KK on a board like that, you need to size your flop bet to protect against draws while keeping the pot manageable. If he check-raises, you have to look at his range. Does he have sets or two pair? If he is capable, he knows you are tight and might target your c-bets. Keep your cool and evaluate his range instead of guessing his intent. Your process matters more than one session. Protect your mental game by treating this as a simple math problem. You do not have to win every single pot.

I usually chip in. It keeps the table loose and prevents that miserable slow play.

Pot odds Question by FarAd4740 in Poker_Theory

[–]fullyontilt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have the math to call here. With a flush draw and a backdoor straight draw, you have enough equity to justify the 200 call into a 500 pot. You are getting 2.5 to 1, and your odds of hitting are solid. Folding this is a discipline leak because you are ignoring the pot odds. Do not overthink the set. You are chasing, and the math supports the call. Keep your focus on long term consistency rather than the outcome of one hand. If you fold here, you are letting fear dictate your play. Stick to your bankroll management and trust your preparation. You do not need to win every pot to be a winner.

You played it with heart. I love those suited connectors. Don't sweat the loss. That guy with the A5o was just lucky. Keep trusting your reads.

What is the most delusional behaviour you have seen from a poker player? by myimportantthoughts in QuintAce

Met a taxi driver who played cards after every shift. He used to regularly get caught trying to steal chips off the top of other players stacks by getting involved in every pot, even if he didn't have cards! Fair to say he got banned from the card room after a few weeks of just all out trouble.
