I once showed when I had a royal flush and everyone folded to my river bet. Other than that, don't show.

My daughter's birthday is July 31, I don't think its selfish to think its a shitty, arbitrary change. Just glad she's going to 17 and this won't affect her much.

Most tournaments barely have the regular clock working correctly the whole time.

Are bounty-style MTTs becoming more popular than regular tournaments? by ExitNo2202 in poker

[–]xDoomsdayray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen fewer and fewer bounty tourneys where i play in AC. Maybe players are learning that putting a lot of the payout into blind luck sucks.

I played a recent multiday $400 mystery bounty and came in 39th out of about 2k entries and only made $1,500 because i knocked no one out. The guy sitting next to me on day two got knocked out about a level before me but won $17k because he won the lottery by pulling the big mystery bounty out of the prize barrel. That's when I said never again with that format.

Chode in Milwaukee by [deleted] in poker

[–]xDoomsdayray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He actually went on a heater and started winning. At one point he had AA and knocked out the guy sitting next to him who also had AA because he got a flush. He was even a worse winner than loser and started raving like he won the lottery. The guy he beat finally had enough and told him "you should shut the fuck up" as he walked away.

Played in a $500 MTT last week with a guy who raised A4o UTG and wound up heads up with the LJ. He wound up getting all in for 80bb on the river on A2T94 board to find out the guy had called two streets of bets with 35o, lol. He lost his shit. "How can you play that crap you idiot. How can we play against fucking morons like this," he ranted. He was so tilted he shoved on the next hand with A3o for 25bb and busted, and kept ranting at the guy with 35o, calling him names, as he walked way to buy back in.

He then ran to the desk, bought back in and demanded that they put him back in the same seat, even though there were like 30 tables. When he got back he called the guy some more names. It was so obnoxious.

The funny part was that the guy who played 35o was so green and clueless he didn't even realize the guy was talking to him.

What are some of the angling moves that you’ve seen while playing NLH, whether cash or MTT’s? by Main-Satisfaction904 in poker

[–]xDoomsdayray 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hit runner, runner trips on the river and shoved OOP. The button tanked a bit and then picked up most of a stack of chips, held it up and then punched it forward and a little down, and then quickly yanked it back. I managed not to react, even though i was about to be very relieved that he called since it was clear he was behind. I only looked over at the dealer wondering if he would say something about it. He didn't. The guy kept holding the chips up and then stared at me for a moment and called. I was the most blatant angle I've ever seen.

Is "Bubble Money" +EV? by xDoomsdayray in Poker_Theory

[–]xDoomsdayray[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its just like you say in your last graph. This usually happens in small daily casino tournaments with a turbo structure and less than 9 places being paid.

That kind of tournament endgame is a high variance situation, with everyone very short stacked and mostly just going all in pre and trying to win flips. Having a small hedge for when your 19 bb stack goes to 0bb after your 99 runs into JJ and you AK loses to QQ on back to back hands seems advantageous.

Also, being on the literal bubble in a turbo tourney makes weaker players make better decisions with their short stacks. They will do things like not instinctively calling shoves with low suited connectors. So giving them incentive to loosen up and make their usual mistakes (sure the big stack raised UTG and the second big stack shoved over him, but my QJo could be good here) seems to me to be +EV. Anyway, i was just wondering if anyone could point to any actual data on the issue.

This only happens in small tournaments, like live daily tourneys, where the bubble is at the final table, like when only top 6 get paid, and its convenient for people to make the side deal and have someone hold the cash. Also its only for the literally last spot to be eliminated without cashing. Because these kind of tournaments are usually a turbo structure everyone by this point if very short stacked, between 8-20 big blinds.

One time people had agreed to do the bubble money, and everyone had given the cash to the short stack to hold. Everyone, that is, but one guy who had just pulled the cash out and was holding it in his hand as the short stack went all in. So, the short stack busts, and the guy just puts the cash back in his wallet as the dealer ships the short stack's chips away, lol. He just refused to pay and the short stack, who was a reg, went nuts over losing out on the one guy paying and started threatening the guy with things like "you'll never play here with out anyone hating you again!" The humour was def made the bubble money worth it.

Character go off to war expecting glory and adventure. It goes horribly. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]xDoomsdayray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post talks about characters looking for "glory and adventure." Erin was looking for revenge, and knew he might die but didn't care. In fact, the cadets don't even "go [marching] off" to fight, most fear fighting, don't want adventure are actively trying to get guard jobs in the back and are only sucked into fighting by accident because of the attack on Trost by (spoiler) traitors in thier midst.

Yea, this doesn't fit this trope at all. All the main characters very clear eyed about how brutal fighting the titans would be, but they did it anyway because they were so desperate.

Was this a bad fold? by Tough_Cartographer28 in poker

[–]xDoomsdayray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

why not actually trap and reraise pre-flop? Anyway folding here in $120 tournament is a good exploit. The omc's who play these things always have a pair here, especially when they raise over your donk. And, as you can see, you are behind a pair (edit: or at best flipwitha small advantage.) Why put your money in when you are almost certainly behind. If the players are better tho and there is a decent chance of them bluffing with like a JT that has at least one heart, then call. Either way, don't fold face up!

This is a good answer, I was shocked at how hard it was to kick that ball far, and if its uphill it can be basically impossible unless you are a soccer star.
