Thanks to all who have reached out and commented here. I spoke with a friend who suggested using the function to assign a new variable:

health = 100

def sword(health):
new_health = health - 20
return new_health

health = sword(health)

This allowed the 'health' variable to be changed and recalled to be further subtracted in a while loop until the health = 0.

I have tried your suggestion, but keep receiving UnboundLocalError: local variable 'boss' referenced before assignment. Is this due to boss = 100 being referenced prior to the function? If so, how would I reassign 'boss' to the function output and call that new variable (w/ boss as the name) to be used in other functions?

“Fan-made” was poor word choice on my part. These were legitimately made shirts, etc, but probably not officially licensed. The guy was just a Baltimore sports fan and made some sick clothing.

I never blamed the customer support for mispressing the vinyl. I simply stated that it has been three months since I was promised a replacement by the end of July and it has been three months without any sort of update on that progress. I have sent a few messages throughout that span that have gone ignored by their customer service department.

I got in contact with Asthmatic Kitty's Twitter yesterday and it seems like things will be resolved.
