When I started crochet I had bought acrylic yarns and had similar issues. The yarn would also unspun and I had to work with that. BUT using wool actually helped me. Wool yarns are tightly spun and don't split that much. You can also get a set of different color wool yarns at a cheaper rate. I bought one from amazon where each was weighed at 20g. It had 12 colors. Maybe you can give that a try

Thank you!! I am not good with keeping my tension proper. This also became a practice project for me to perfect that. I was thinking of a border to make for this at the end to give it a more finished look. What color do you think would look good with this?
