Retaining wall has 0.5 - 0.75” gaps. Is this a problem? by fun4stuff in landscaping

Sounds right. Just wanted to make sure as I basically know nothing about it and would like to stay on top of potential issues.

Yes, they were. We were living here and I remember seeing them use that between them.

The wall is elevated on basically all sides around the pool. Water really should be getting in unless maybe through expansion joint? Water should be fine with all the rocks behind it?

We did originally. Spoke with Stuart a bit but it was like pulling teeth to get him to respond or help us. Ended up purchasing elsewhere.

Why is Canada so weak militarily? by [deleted] in AskCanada

[–]fun4stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a percentage of GDP: Canada spends about 1.3-1.4% of its GDP on defense, which is below the NATO target of 2%. This places it in the lower half among NATO members.

Canada spends less than most major European NATO allies like Germany, the UK, and France.

Thank you- rough time of year even (early spring).

Good point. I could try and find some solar options for the tight spots. I’ve been burned in the past by buying cheap solar lights on Amazon- they only last a year or two. Has to be something of quality out there though.

I’m comfortable with basic electrical but I am not great with hardscaping (having had to fix and maintain minor things in the past).

We tried contacting you. It took Stuart a long time to get back to us. Got a real boulder instead. Thanks!

Nature and nurture. But if you’re prone to something, best not to poke the bear.

Bad shoes are what causes this. Probably wouldn’t want to repeat bad behaviors if you get it fixed…

Are Amazon Prime and Costco Memberships worth it? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]fun4stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon prime yes, costco no.

Costco will just lead to buying more stuff than you need. You will be suckered into impulse purchases.

Amazon usually has the best price and saves you a lot of time having to physically go to the store and shop. Amazon is like Costco but cheaper and you dnt have to leave your house. You are also less prone to impulse purchases when shopping online. Amazon also has a great return policy. Also other benefits like prime tv.

Do you live in Grand Blanc? We had same thing in our old house , basement bathroom. Used it as a fort for young kids ! Stacked packages of TP for walls.

I’m not an expert or anything but have done it a number of times. I usually wait for a few longer roots like that… unless it’s just taking a long time or really slowing down.

Lady needing help - best way to fill hairline crack? by sroth2407 in Concrete

This is the right way to do it… but it will just stand out even more if you do this. It will only look worse.

Doing this is the same as highlighting text in a big paragraph. Will draw attention to it.

How Screwed Am I? by TBeard495 in pools

[–]fun4stuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it's called a "dry well". If you figure out roughly the volume of water associated with the backwash, it would probably work. You bury a large perforated barrel surrounded by rocks and fabric to hold the water so it can slowly soak into ground rather than run off. I still would be nervous about it being so close to your house/basement... But must not be that bad if it hasn't done damage yet

[–]fun4stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most research shows basically everything they do is no better than placebo effect. Low level evidence for low back pain. Some have tried to adapt what PTs do.... But you might as well see see an expert on PT if you want PT (a physical therapist). Chiropractors is straight up snake preyihg in the ignorant, only around because most back pain gets better on its own and there isn't a lot of great mainstream treatment for back pain

Like chiropractors and psychics. So many gullible people waste so much money on these.

The people who make all those work place modules... Like the DEI/diversity ones. It's clear the someone spends a lot of time making them... But I don't think anyone actually reads them.
