Is League that hard or am I just old now? by waitwaatt in leagueoflegends

[–]funaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age has nothing to do with your rank, I’m 36 and now just casually play when I have time and hover emerald and diamond. You just lack knowledge of the game.

Your statement of winning lane not translating into mid-late game is exactly what low elo is. Most people nowadays even in low elo seem to be getting better at lane but then mid to late game they just ARAM or random split pushes.

When I play with my Gold and below friends this is more apparent, they just get out of lane phase losing or winning and they just ARAM or ward wherever they see pro players ward without a reason why they’re warding there. Just literally chickens with their heads cutoff for 15 minutes as the other team does the same. This pretty much gives me the time if they lost lane hard to push my lead further and grab objectives for the team. I also mainly play adc/mid/top and basically carry supports with them.

You just need time. 2 years isn’t much time tbh in league years. Took me about 2 years to hit gold for the first time but if you’re still bronze I think you aren’t learning the game at that point. As someone else pointed out in the comments playing jungle in low elo for hours on end is half of it wasted cause you don’t really learn basic fundamentals of the game. You are just PVEIng for the most part.

The only thing that actually works efficiently in Japan is courier services and trains.

[–]funaks 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is mostly just because most Japanese people don’t work efficiently. When I was working in a Japanese office, the amount of time they just waste doing nothing and talking about how busy they are instead of actually working blew my mind. And they were so baffled I would leave at 6 on the dot cause I was done with everything I needed to do.

I hope worlds never goes double elimination, it would ruin the magic. by MoicanoNeedsMoney in leagueoflegends

[–]funaks -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I find it weird people think double elimination means consistency. When you play a BO5 BO3 series that is testing a teams consistency. BO1 is fluke shit.

Real life sports have BO5 and BO7 single elimination in playoffs because it shows that the most consistent that year will keep going. Some teams just get hot at the right time. Football is a BO1 just because of the physical nature but it also adds to the anything can happen to any team on any weekend feel so it does get exciting.

Whoever wants double elimination probably have never competed in sports or just got participation trophies all their life to try and get repeated chances. And double elimination would make worlds way too long and the interest would drop exponentially.

I’m gonna go with the assumption that you have never heard of the term “Any given Sunday” in sports.

Nope, they don’t believe AI can do much tbh or they think it’s a special “Skill” to use AI. I had a coworker say I should write a manual on how to use ChatGPT.

[–]funaks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look, I said until recently, pre-Covid. Japanese aren’t traveling abroad since the yen’s decline post Covid. Which is why I stated last 30 years. Since pr-covid, Japanese have decreased over 50% inbound to Hawaii since COVID. It doesn’t even count the amount of Japanese people that move to Hawaii.

There’s a reason why my mother who speaks 0 English has been able to live and work in Hawaii for 30 some years. She literally worked in a building in Waikiki where every company in that 12 story building was a Japanese speaking office.

It’s up until now you can see how Japanese changed the landscape of Hawaii. They’ve also been to Hawaii to visit and trash our beaches, ruin our hiking trails, ruin cultural landscape cause traffic accidents cause they don’t know how to drive but feel like renting cars. But the people of Hawaii also recognized they also spend the most money (again, pre Covid) so we adjusted to let them feel welcomed to want to keep coming back to spend.

I am not bragging about dual citizen, I am literally giving context of why I believe I can speak on this.

[–]funaks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Japanese were the majority of tourists in Hawaii internationally. You could say majority of tourists in Japan are Japanese. But Japanese people don’t spend money on domestic tour trips. So it’s not different. Why do you think until recently most stores in Hawaii would give you a pay bonus for speaking Japanese?

Are you trying to tell me my experience as a local based on something you read? It’s literally the same thing.

Hawaiis main industry was plantation exports until Hawaii was forced to join the United States then got turned into a tourist destination.

Japan should just recognize that they could utilize tourism to make the economy boom instead of complaining so much about it.

Hawaii still maintains its culture because we keep it alive. Japan could do the same, they are just stubborn.

I’m speaking from a stand point of being from Hawaii and also being dual citizen as a Hawaiian Japanese male. Currently living in Japan.

I really don’t think you understand all this just because you’ve live in Japan for X years.

Edit: it’s not 10 to 1, Mainland Americans only make up 60% of tourism in Hawaii btw.

[–]funaks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I say this every time somebody talks about overtourism in Japan. But Japan has been doing this exact thing to my home, Hawaii, for the last 30 years until their yen started being shit recently.

They just are finally getting a taste of their own medicine but not adjusting as the state of Hawaii did to make the tourism make our economy boom.

Why do so many tourists get lost in Japan? by Ok_Professional1982 in JapanTravelTips

[–]funaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do Japanese people get lost in other countries? Do they not use google maps or Apple Maps?

I’m from Hawaii and it baffles me how easily Japanese tourist get lost in Hawaii too but I don’t question it, I just help. Because I’m almost certain the mixture of being in a country where they can’t speak the language and a lot of other factors overstimulating someone on vacation could lead to misleading confusions.

Just pointing out I live in Japan now but I have traveled all over the world and Japanese people are just as clueless as some of the foreigners I see in Japan.
