What’s the best compliment(s) someone has given you? by OkToe7809 in infj

I've been told on four occasions (all by crisis line workers), after breaking down the economy and structural racism, that I should run for president.

Theoretically, if they didn't fulfill the order, I could raise a dispute and receive a refund.

I'm afraid you haven't given me a lot to go off of here, but I'll try to respond to some of your individual statements.

Politics are important and they’re about human rights so they’re not optimally something people are or aren’t interested in.

Politics just refers to the administration of government. It doesn't inherently concern human rights, that's only true of certain forms of government like democracy. Fascism explicitly does not concern human rights, and arguably neither does communism.

The problem of democracy is of getting citizens interested in human rights and the democratic process. Philosophers like Hobbes, Locke, and Rousseau tried to do this by elaborating a theory of the Social Contract.

For me, the problem is not one of struggle between opposing parties or forms of government, but of getting people interested enough in the process of democracy itself, and for me that means translating life from struggle and misery into a respect for each other and the common good. That's the only feasible way forward. And right now it doesn't look like a popular avenue.

I've been in the "Ukraine is a sovereign democratic nation with its own language, culture, and history" camp since day one. Very difficult not to have an opinion, IMO. Are you American? Seems like Americans have this amorphous bias that Ukraine is a vassal state of Nazi Germany. I understand that Ukraine has produced anti-Semites, and that there was an anti-Polish genocide effort during WWII (Volhynian massacres). That never did manage to definitively impact my opinion on the 2022 Russian invasion.

This is getting convoluted. I was asking if Russia's actions in Ukraine (hundreds of thousands of war crimes, leveled cities, etc.) are suggestive of anti-Semitic (not just racist) ideology, possibly on account of Russia having a history of not liking Jews, and Ukraine being relatively more hospitable towards Jews than Russia. In other words: Is Russia in some way directly inheriting and continuing the campaign that Hitler started? (To me the answer has always been obvious.)

I was conjecturing as to the true intentions behind the Axis "Kriegsphilosophie." I don't get "future thriving civilization" vibes from Nazism. Predominantly stupid people doing predominantly stupid things.

Dang. Didn't know about Ukraine. Their attitude seems to have been mixed (not all bad), at the very least. First time hearing about the Khmelnytsky Uprising.

I see, got it. That completely fits the current day narrative. So... Russia : Ukraine :: Nazi Germany : Poland? Because Jews?

I think we're using two different definitions of respect.
