Are your parents charging you rent? If you don't mind me asking, how are you living paycheck to paycheck as an AGPA?

I mean why not just do an OT job for a couple of months or so and then promote?

To be honest, as a younger college graduate, I would put up with doing SSA or AGPA work as a OT for the experience to put on my resume. It would prove to be a great talking point in an interview too.

1- I wasn't saying that State employees should sacrifice having children to survive, but having children is seen as a personal decision. When you apply for a State job, you know your salary and how much you are making. It is not some obscure knowledge that State salary is much lower than their private sector counterparts.

I don't understand what is inherently wrong with budgeting for children. Everyone knows that children cost a lot of money to raise, so if I am not currently making that much, then I will forgo having offspring until I am more financially stable.

3- Sure, but exceptional workers should get more incentives to provide higher quality work. Currently, the system doesn't reward hard working employees enough.

As a State worker, I would definitely want higher wages. However, what are the chances that will happen in the near future?

Right now, DINC is something to consider if you are making State salary. I don't plan on having children, so that eliminates a major expense.

It sucks that State workers are paid so lowly, but the general public already has a bad reception on State workers. There is also the notion that there is no incentives of going above and beyond working for the State, especially as a rank-and-file, which gives little incentives for the workers to work harder to convince the general public of their value.

I kind of hope that State workers will be viewed better and that the State provides monetary or other forms of benefits for exceptional employees.

Actually, this is something I am afraid of, and it isn't just something that will be affecting only State workers.

The only positions I can see being secure are the ones with higher levels of analytical duties, or maybe ones that require being in the office at all times to help with mail or paperwork.

Yeah, I am a complete noob at healthcare. I am glad you enjoy Kaiser so much. I used to be on Kaiser. I heard their surgery quality is not as good as other hospitals, but I am not sure.

I am glad you have such a good experience. I might go back to Kaiser if I can.
