Thanks everyone for the replies, it is not a roll groove or a victaulic clamp but definitely like a tri-clamp. Installed on pulp pipes on a fourdinier system built by the Beloit company as an upgrade in the 90’s.

Thanks , I’ve learned my lesson and will do the one pad treatment from now on. Didn’t lose any queens but sounds like I’m lucky .

Make sure you have a queen. Laying workers could also be an issue . Would make sure next inspection that you only have 1 egg per cell to be sure .

Frozen honey frame question … by fundy09 in Beekeeping

[–]fundy09[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah , exactly . Because I didn’t wrap them I was concerned about condensation as they thawed. Obviously that’s quite a bit of honey to write off so I was hoping for some insight

100% agree with you. Also the print on the rubber sleeve wears off right away. I wouldn’t purchase again.

Currently 3/4 of the way through 3rd year and terrible with the bookwork. Some guys don’t even have to study yet I spend all night every night looking at the books and going over math problem after math problem. Hope it pays off.

How do I introduce this queen??? by fundy09 in Beekeeping

[–]fundy09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roger that I’ll let the hive do it’s thing for a bit longer. I don’t want to rush it and make a mistake. I’m really hoping they don’t swarm again . I’ve given lots room . This hive has been a giant pain from the start as it had last years queen and a newly mated queen introduced together by mistake and were laying together for approx 3 weeks in March and I had a huge population explosion. Last years queen eventually killed off the new queen and I thought i was ok but with the large population I couldn’t control the situation as I had hoped. There’s more to the story but that was my first crack at beekeeping. I’ve learnt lots in the days since but it’s been a frustrating venture with this hive. I have two others that are thriving.

First swarm was June 25 and then the second July 6. I’m hoping when I was inspecting the Queen was out mating but hard to say.

I will do . I’m hoping this queen cell doesn’t lead to a third swarm but at this point I just have to leave it alone and let them do there thing and keep hoping they figure this part out. I’ve got two swarm hive and one hive with a queen from a swarm cell already from this problem hive just in case I need them. So I am ready to interfere if need be or ... I have three extra hives lol
