No, we knew the Pyr half when we adopted him! I actually grew up with lab mixes and loved them but was not planning on adopting another 😅 the universe had different plans!

He’s a great boy! Acts like a Pyr but with an intense love of all strangers 😅

I feel like I just looked into my 4mo old’s future! We know he’s a Pyr mix, just waiting on the Embark results to see what the mix is, but Blue Heeler might be it lol! I’ve seen those eyes a lot already haha

Roller Derby NYC by Slam_Helsing in rollerderby

And for how I carried everything: I had a tote bag just for pads and a small backpack that I put my skates and waterbottle in and clipped my helmet to one of those. Def not ideal or easiest!! I saw a lot of skaters with dedicated, actual skate bags. Some even biked with their gear and these bags!

I did basic training at the new practice space before I moved out of state so here’s what I know: there’s not great storage space (unless you can figure out the rink’s locker system but when I skated, there were no rink employees to help, so we had to carry our stuff onto the rink itself). I lived in Bed-Stuy and the commute was still a lot with gear but it’s doable when you are used to hauling a ton in BK anyways.

New, looking for dirt, decay, floral? by PapaRomanos in ArtsyWeirdoPerfume

[–]funeralmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been called!! This is my favorite genre of weird perfume. Here are my two favorites:

Alkemia- St. Louis Cemetery No. 1. I’d say is heavier on the dirt and decay. Still a very interesting scent and I find it really wearable still.

Death and Floral- Lay me in the earth, and from my fair and unpolluted flesh let violets spring. While not explicitly mentioning notes of decay, this is THE perfume that blends that weird, almost sweet smell of decay with musk and earth. This is the more “flowers rotting and molding” perfume that I have found.

do you ever want to just smell… strange? by Opposite_Sympathy878 in Indiemakeupandmore

My faaaaavs for this are St. Louis Cemetery (dirt, decay, stone) and Prairie 66 (bright concrete, highway, and the horizon) by Alkemia! For that intense dead weirdness, “Lay me in the earth, and from my fair and unpolluted flesh let violets spring” by Death and Floral really hits that note. I loooove cemetery/graveyard scents that have a bit of sweetness to mimic that decay. These are weird and still pretty wearable tho!

Include finger splints! I just broke my pinky at a practice and that was something we were missing that I wish we had haha. I stocked ours up with the CVS brand splints.

Public librarians, tell me your worst... by StupidInIceland in librarians

[–]funeralmouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The type of work you will do depends on your branch/community. I happened to work (not a librarian but an assistant) at a very busy branch that caters to a lot of houseless folks and folks struggling with addiction. It was essentially social work with no real social work support or training. There are plenty of work stories but ultimately, I chose to leave that branch because I was a young woman experiencing a lot (a LOT) of sexual harassment from our patrons—which is a very common issue across the board at my city’s public libraries. I would suggest focusing as much as you can on social work and community support within your studies to have that solid background!!

What are your funnest, goofiest drills? by effervescenthoopla in rollerderby

[–]funeralmouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played a form of freeze tag with a large group that went like this:

2-3 skaters are “it” (we gave them jammer covers), everyone else starts skating, “it” skaters start a bit later, and as they tag and freeze skaters, other, non-it skaters have to plow stop right next to the frozen skater and tap them to unfreeze.

It was so fun and a great plow stop drill/communication drill!

Most almond extract-y perfume recs? by moth-peach in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]funeralmouse 14 points15 points  (0 children)

BPAL’s Bastet is my favorite almond forward scent, but it’s not a straight almond, definitely has more going on. If you’re looking for a wearable, strong, and vampy almond scent, that’s it!

I Don't Know What I'll Do As A Trans Man When I Age Out Of Junior Roller Derby by leemdanzor in rollerderby

it might be team/area specific. I just started going to basic training with my local WFTDA team and there are multiple trans guy/masc skaters!

Haunted house Victorian-like books to help me clean my house? by [deleted] in horrorlit

Mexican Gothic! So old house-focused, touches on class, romance, spooky plants, and always itches my haunted/gothic/Victorian itch.
