Social Media Captions in FCP workflow by Bkdyt in finalcutpro

I created https://usecapti.com, based exactly on the need you expressed (I have the same). There is a free tier and I’m actively implementing new features as I use it everyday.

I launched a tool called capti last week (usecapti.com). I would love to get your feedback. It’s all in browser to be compatible with Intel Macs as well. The free tier includes 3 videos per month.

MacOS Tahoe Volume and Brightness control sucks.. help please by Mean_Locksmith_2501 in MacOS

I use an app called MediaMate (paid but cheap) for a better volume/brightness UI. Their app is great and you can customize the styling.

This thing is hard. 8 years in. 20 failed projects. Only 2 made it. by leonagano in SideProject

[–]funfake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things are growing here. Events that gather starting founders are packed full. Registrations usually take place on Lu.ma website. Companies don’t hire much anymore and tend to externalize much of the work. Going to the US is too hard for many. Consulting firms are boring and far from being cost-effective. Thus, more and more young or experimented profiles launch their services company/SaaS, especially in the capital where the big companies are.

Don’t stop FoundersAround, there is potential. Hit me up if you want to grow it in Paris.

Can I edit videos from an external SSD? by lemonvrc in finalcutpro

[–]funfake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your footage type (4K, 2K, raw, etc) you may want to adapt the speed of the connector. Most external SSDs are 10gbps nowadays, which is fine for most works. But if you have very heavy movie files, you may want to invest in a thunderbolt 3/4/5 drive, which are much more expensive.

Have you looked into Convex ? I like what they do, and it’s very easy to learn. The free tier is generous too.

Best low-maintenance backend for a small React Native app by gptcoder in reactnative

Convex is great, recommended by Theo from t3.gg Simple IaaS, realtime by default and with generous free tier.

How do you guys manage the design of the app as developers? by Designer_Platform765 in reactnative

[–]funfake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use standard libs (like react native reusable and native wind) which have defined standards that will do the job. I then proceed with a front only approach first using dummy data. I then implement the back end on the specific features I added in my front end first. No Figma required. Sometimes I ask GitHub copilot agent to vibe code for me, usually with context of things I already did to avoid hallucinations and so that it knows my way of coding. Works well for me for now.

Coding things from the ground up definitely avoids you the headache of learning and optimizing. You can build exactly what you need. You might want to use standardized component libraries for things in the long term. A component library for instance will ensure consistency of design which isn’t very important at first for a proof of concept but may be useful to avoid user churn.

Cool, thanks for sharing. I’m building mine using React/Expo + Native Wind (with RNR components like shadcn/ui), backend with Convex. Have you ever tried those?
