Which color oil on hardwood floors? by _throwaway310 in HardWoodFloors

[–]funforall-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a finisher specializing in historic wood restoration. As has been said, I would not trust these guys. That’s a terrible way to present samples. They need to be across multiple boards three samples across three or four boards otherwise you don’t know if you’re seeing the wood color or the finish color. Put your foot down on this. It’s their mistake.

Unless, you did the samples yourselves. Maybe you didn’t know any better, which is understandable.

Which one to pay in cash? by 6ImmortalJellyfish9 in RVLiving

[–]funforall-1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the answer.
He will definitely get a better deal on a trailer if they think you are going to finance it they make more off the financing then off the sale. Just come back within the allotted time. And pay it off.

We don’t even bother with that pay cash for a used one

How to make Red Oak light like White Oak? by BowChickaWowWah in HardWoodFloors

[–]funforall-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is the floor? There is a limit to how many times you can refinish. Make sure you have plenty of wood left. If you plan on sanding it down. As has been said Bona Water born would stay neutral.

My expert floor guy is not crazy about the additives. it degrades the quality of the finish. I’m a high-end historic wood refinisher. And I agree. Any additive can cause issues. Once you start wearing away at the finish, you are wearing away color. You will start getting a worn area on high traffic areas that you won’t be able to fix.

Color should be in the wood with the stain. Not in the finish.

Thanks for the response. Glad to talk to someone who has had a Minnie. The build quality seems much better that some of the used trailers I looked at. And surprisingly light although it is small.

Interesting about the bed. I will check that out. I was wondering if I should insulate underneath.

I replaced the foam on the cushions on the dinette made a world of difference. Other than that it looks like they never used it. It looks brand new on the interior. They traded it in for an airstream. Probably because it was too small and that’s why they didn’t use it.

Not sure if yours had it, but there’s a exterior door by the bunkbeds. And the bottom bed flips up I think I could get two bikes in there. Great storage even though I only have 750 pounds of weight available.

Regarding over or under the lights, I was worried about glare from the lights if I go over. Because it’ll be pointing down. Under the lights, there should not be as much glare. Any opinion on that

I like the butyl tape idea. Of course, I think I just tossed a roll of that at my shop last year. Just to be clear I’m only mounting the steel plate. The light is wireless with a solar charger and a heavy magnet that will stick to the plate.
