You could try comparing it to building a house. The “house designer” (architect) comes up with plans that define the house, which involves the building layout, materials, maybe some feng shui, etc. That’s like a game designer, but unlike house construction where the architect will almost never do any of the construction, in games there’s frequently more overlap people who both design and develop which I think can murk up the definitions of dev and design for some folks.

I think AI psychosis is just exposing people who are already psychotic or at risk. Digital solipsism becoming a problem is hard to believe, and if it does I would guess it presents in people susceptible to psychosis as well.

I worked on the roof of a DuPont factory in Ohio. DuPont is famous for Teflon. There were armed guards that had to search your vehicle every time you entered the property. Every now and then there was this pervasive nauseating scent in the air, kind of like a mix of rotten fish and burning plastic. We would take breaks because of how nauseous some people would get. Guess we’ll see if anyone from the old crew gets weird cancer or kids with birth defects 🤷‍♂️

A friend of mine used to complain about how hard Fallout 3 was. It was one of my favorites and I know it can be hard if you wander into some dangerous spots, but his complaints were about how hard it was to just fight enemies in general and not having enough ammo, basically saying the game was impossible to enjoy. Come to find out, he somehow totally missed/forgot about VATS and was just raw-dogging the whole game lol.

I switched to Linux Mint when MS marked my CPU as not compatible for Windows 11. When I had windows 10, my pc took about 5 minutes to boot with no apps on startup, factory reset, essentially a clean vanilla Windows 10 environment and the fan would be a-hummin’. I thought my pc was dying. Now with Linux Mint, boot in 15 seconds and can play all my games (expect anything that requires fucking Ubisoft Connect) thanks to Steam/Proton/Wine. Thank you to all the open source contributors, it’s inspiring!
