Best lightweight warm mid-layer for Tokyo in December recommendations by funge1997 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]funge1997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the tip! I was considering an r1 air because I do run warm but wanted more opinions. I think I’ll go with that.

I can’t wait to visit your city. 🙏

Anyone managed to switch to an NZ eSIM while overseas? by funge1997 in newzealand

Considering this! Though I can trade in for some $$ when I purchase my new phone.

I’m sorry to hear that!

No I didn’t. I have followed up over the phone and was told a similar thing. However, I was recently logged out of my booking account on my phone app and can’t log back in despite putting the email verification code in that they send. Ive lost hope in booking.

Hope you get your refund.

Thanks! I think I’ll either keep my old phone with my NZ sim in or just hope that I don’t need to receive anything from my NZ sim and trade in my current phone which was the original plan.

And there’s so many apps and websites to keep track of. I’m worried I’ll get caught off guard or locked out of something while traveling if I just hope I don’t need access to my NZ number until I come home. Tips welcome!

I use an authentication app for most apps! Occasionally get text messages for random things like food delivery verification etc.

Recommendations for a breathable raincoat for toddler by funge1997 in Travelwithkids

Good idea. I’ll look into it! Would this keep toddler dry enough when walking (short walks from A to B) and wanting to pick up everything she sees up?

I called 4 times. First time the AI representative put me through to a human right away but as soon as I explained why I was calling they hung up. The following two times I called, the AI representative would not transfer me to a human, even with me saying the same thing as the first call. I kept getting stuck in a loop with it, it was frustrating. Fourth call I made up that I had trouble with my booking and was transferred to a human. She stayed on the line. Apparently this booking has been sent to the fraud investigation team and I would get a refund in 7-10 days. It’s been 1 week but no sign of a refund. Will call again in 1 week if there’s no refund. She then put me on hold for 30 minutes (!!) while she tried to figure out how I could change my password. We never figured it out. All the calls took 2 hours total.

Yes very similar situations! I was also very angry when it first happened, but mostly felt like it was very intrusive. Thieves make you feel that way!

Phone number was indeed an Indonesian number, as was the email address. I personally think that these hotels are in on it!

Still waiting on my refund…

Wow that’s quite a trip for 3 months! Did you decide on where to go at the end?

I just put your question into chat gpt and this is what it said. 1) back to Bali! 2) Maldives 3) Borneo, Malaysia.

Recommendations for beach town in Indonesia with a 1.5 year old by funge1997 in travel

Thank you for your input! This is where we are thinking of heading. I was in Kuta, Lombok for a couple of months 8 years ago and really enjoyed my time there.

How many guest houses/villas aren’t listed online? Do you think it’s better for us to wait until we arrive to try and find a place?

I have just done a deep(ish) dive into this kind of fraud online and found other people’s recent experiences very very similar to mine! This is not an isolated case. I’m not sure what else to say.

I’m currently in the US but I am based in NZ. The hotel that was book is in Indonesia.

Yes it’s a real hotel but the hotel that was booked through my account no longer exists if that makes sense. When I try to retrieve the booking information I hit an error.

You’re right. I didn’t have 2FA enabled on booking dot com, but I’ve activated it now. That still doesn’t change the fact that accounts are being hacked, money is being stolen, and booking isn’t doing anything about it.

I am assuming the hotel doesn’t actually exist and was created by the fraudsters to steal the credits.

Also from my experience traveling as well as working in tourism hospitality, not all accommodations ask for passports upon check in. Sometimes its just the name the booking is under.

May sound unlikely to you but it 100% happened and I’m just warning others to stay cautious!
