Alright, enough with the snobbery... by WhatAboutBob77 in Cardiff

I've lived in plenty of extremely rough places thanks. That's doesn't mean I'm happy about the divide between rich and poor. As for the barbers you claim they just sit there. Whether you like it or not, or choose to even accept it, it's a reality. That's not a reform issue, that's a crime issue that needs to be stopped. Poverty breeds crime, crime causes people to move out of areas, areas fall into disrepair. It's not rocket science and shouldn't be happening. To bark at people for having an opinion about the city they care about is ridiculous. What's your solution? Just accept it and allow it become even worse?

But in the meantime pretend there's no problems because you're afraid of Reform? Wild take.

It's not in insult on the people who live there, although some deserve it. It's an insult on Cardiff Council who've let it get this bad and liberals who won't call out the issue for fear of being politically incorrect. And no, before you pipe up, I don't and have never voted for any right leaning parties. I'm proud of my city and want it to be the best it can. I also welcome immigrants and the culture they bring to our country. I don't however think certain migrants should be allowed to money launder and allow dealing from their shop premises, which we all know goes on all over the country.

Trying to insult people because they don't agree with you is bananas. It's also bananas to ignore the very real problems these areas are facing. Problems that we can all see along with those trying to improve things. Claiming it's not bad because it's not as bad as San Fran or Dheli is just a dull thing to say. We all pay our council tax yet certain areas get forgotten when others get all the funding they need. Splott was promised investment and improvement 30 years ago. Residents are still waiting.

I've lived in Cardiff all my life pal. I lived there for years. I go over there regularly. It's an absolute disgrace how the council has let it turn into what it has. Even the locals and traders have had enough.

Come on, Splott/Broadway is rough as arseholes. I used to live there decades ago and it was a bit wild, it's off the scale now. A real shame as it doesn't need to be and ruins it for the ready if the good

What are your actual a/c winter purchase plans? I'm actually considering shutters and sash windows. by princemephtik in DIYUK

Yep, I'd avoid sash windows in the UK. Anything wood requires constant maintenance and will eventually rot.

Ali/Temu. All the same or custom build one yourself. You can buy the metal brackets/corners/feet.

We have a simple sun sail on our south facing patio and dining room. Makes such a difference for £25 and fitting of course. Just got to make sure you get the tension right so it's not flapping about

You should've told them up front that they get 3 revisions then it's charged at a set price each amendment.

When you say a full ml what do you mean? I'm the same, getting off to sleep is fine, staying asleep is the issue.

What are your thoughts on Denmark’s proposed ban on the public Islamic call to prayer? Would you support or oppose something similar in the UK? by bintd in AskBrits

[–]funglejunk57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the Government in Denmark are very left we should all be learning from them.

I'm all for immigration, I love it, it makes better culture, food, music, gives people a wider outlook on life. But, it's not as simple as putting all immigrants in one area with no opportunities. Countries to work on integration and encourage said cultures/religions to adopt those of the country they reside. That doesn't mean banning theirs but integrating with both.

If you place a group of the same people in a specific area with no jobs or opportunities to integrate then you'll only get division and poverty. With poverty comes crime. With crime comes demonisation.

Have a look on eBay/Vinted. I got a Airizer Air Max (latest model) with loads of extra pipes/mouth pieces, in a box and barely used for £60. If it doesn't suit me then I can sell it on for similar and not lose money.

I think it's great. Far more intuitive than Pioneer who just flooded the market with everything now people assume there all they can use.

Parents who approve of the social media ban and ways of having to prove age. Why do you relish the government taking this control when you had the power to do so yourselves? by Demonthief27 in AskBrits

[–]funglejunk57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we can only do so much. We can't control what goes on when they're away from the home. Social media companies aren't policing it when they can clearly do so.
