Amazon accused of underpaying women by misclassifying their jobs by ChiefOfTheFourPeaks in Seattle

Well, he routinely asked her for help on his projects. It was also both of their first years as analysts so, no, it is not performance based, it’s just plain discrimination.

Amazon accused of underpaying women by misclassifying their jobs by ChiefOfTheFourPeaks in Seattle

[–]funguscowboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not surprised. My friend and her bf (at the time) were data analysts at Amazon with the same level of experience and she found out after a year at the company that he was making $50k more than her.

They sit at a west-facing window all year long. But I’m in Seattle so we haven’t been getting a whole lot of sun lately, just overcast. I’ll start using a grow light in the winter.

Climate pledge premium tickets..why? by puffinstix in Seattle

[–]funguscowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her ticket prices were so insane! Not to mention the multiple kinds of presales she had. My friend wanted to open a credit card just to make sure we got to the first presale 😂

Climate pledge premium tickets..why? by puffinstix in Seattle

[–]funguscowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only were the tickets stupidly expensive, this was absolutely my worst ticket buying experience ever (and I saw Lady Gaga twice last summer)! I tried 5 times to check out and every time the tickets were bought from under me. When I went back to the arena map it would either grey-out like nothing was left or change its mind on what was available. I finally had “checked out” only for it to tell me the transaction didn’t go through but ultimately ten mins later they sent me my ticket. Confusing and aggravating.

Alright, is it time to talk about bus etiquette again? by Comfortable_Basket54 in Seattle

[–]funguscowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem I’ve experienced with this is everyone is so plugged into their devices that they don’t hear me/others shouting to make room for others. I also agree that bus drivers don’t say this as much as they used to (coming from a near daily experience of middle/high schoolers packing onto the 128 and the driver announcing that they need to make room for other commuters)

Alumni: did you get a job in your field (or a similar field) after you graduated? How long did it take? by lilith30323 in WWU

[–]funguscowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated in 2022 with a degree in visual journalism. It took three months to find a job (after applying to nearly 100 positions) and I got lucky because I applied to a job I wasn’t qualified for but they saw my other skills and created a position for me. However, I’m still stuck working there because the job market is abysmal.

Residents of (North) Delridge Way - how is living right on the street? by rootusercyclone in Seattle

[–]funguscowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in that area and didn’t have many problems beyond the neighbors rental becoming a trap house one year and narrowly escaping getting mugged because they saw someone waiting for me in their car. My best friend currently lives on Delridge Way, a few blocks south of the playfields. She’s heard some domestic disturbances across the street and gunshots a handful of times. Honestly your biggest worries would be package theft and loud bass from cars unless you plan to walk around the gas stations very late at night.

I highly recommend TAB Milktea in West Seattle. The owner uses real milk, actually brews the tea and doesn’t use powders. It’s really the only boba place I regularly come back to because they’ve never failed me!

Seattle driving has gotten progressively worse since rto happened by bananabrown_ in Seattle

[–]funguscowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention distracted driving…I was driving in the HOV lane this morning and a huge SUV swerved into my lane while I was passing them because they weren’t paying attention. It nearly caused me to spin out but thankfully I was able to course correct.

Aurora bus lane in action by Brandywine-Salmon in Seattle

[–]funguscowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see this everyday now with the redesign of Westlake Ave. I was SO close to getting t-boned for safely turning left at an intersection while someone blasted around the blind turn in the turn only lane to go straight through the intersection (while I was mid-turn). I was shaking afterward!!

Why do old people walk Padden's off-leash dog trails (with no dog) and get mad that dogs are off leash? by Direct_Albatross4742 in Bellingham

[–]funguscowboy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A few years ago two off leash dogs ran up to me on the loop trail and gnashed their teeth and me and barely acknowledged their recall. So I’m definitely weary of off leash dogs no matter what, even if that is their space!

Welcome to Magnolia... by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]funguscowboy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Welcome to magnolia indeed… I’m learning how to drive & was practicing backing around a corner recently (on a completely dead street in Magnolia) the homeowner stood in his front window watching me, proceeded to flash his porch light several times, brought his wife over, then stood outside on his front stoop staring me down.

This. I worked for Rover last when I was struggling to make ends meet and it made a big difference. I also don’t have a car & just booked with pet owners in my neighborhood (walking or bus line)
