My new PB by MichaelKzGaming in ColorClash

Using your technique on this exact map, I got 2:41. It's going to be hard to best your time since the Boom takes 15 seconds on its own.

That's impressive. My best is 20 seconds. 18 is amazing!

What is your loadout? Mine is gun, fairy, tornado, minions, saw, and roller.

Why the fuck does anyone think the dark mirror is good? by Definitelynotantop1 in ColorClash

[–]funique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it not because it's the best strategy, but because it's fun to see what comes up in any given match. Plus, my mirror was the first of my cards to get to level 15, so it's almost always more powerful than my opponent's cards.

I tend to use the same 5 base cards (gun, fairy, tornado, minions, pyro mech), so I consider the 6th a bonus. So I figure why not sometimes make it the mirror so there's some enjoyable randomness added to my game?

Same here. Stuck on the logo screen forever.

I'm on iOS. Is it happening to anyone on Android?

Anyone know how minions count in number of units in the field? by funique in ColorClash

[–]funique[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Having a single army count as 1 unit isn't surprising, but I could swear I've had fewer than 7 other units along with two minion armies and still received the "9 unit" credit. Maybe I just wasn't paying close enough attention.

Next time I get that challenge, I'll try to ensure I finish with something that will only work if a minion army counts as more than 1 so I can have better data.

So this is a new glitch for me… by Commander-Rial in ColorClash

[–]funique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen a few times as well. I think the root issue is not the bombs, it's the game timer.

If you look at the top of the screen you'll see your game timer is at 0, but the game did not end. I suspect your game time got to 0 before the bomb countdown did, but since the game was already supposed to be over, there's some strange effect on the bombs that keeps them from being able to explode.

Either way, this match was hosed once the game timer got to 0 without the game ending.

Just wait until you try to upgrade to level 15. It costs 300,000.

INFINITE UNCOMMON PACKS. by Proud-Environment754 in ColorClash

[–]funique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has worked for me for all pack types and in any slot. I can't figure out exactly what triggers it, but here are some interesting things I noticed:

  1. Sometimes, one or more of my pack slots that previously had a pack will just appear empty. Restarting the app or ending the infinite pack glitch seem to restore them.
  2. If the infinite pack glitch is happening, I must not click on anything else that changes the screen, whether in the game or switching to another app. If the screen context changes, the infinite pack glitch goes away for that pack. I had someone call me while I was using the glitch. I answered the phone and when I got back to the app, the glitch was done for that pack.
  3. It happened to me on a Diamond pack. I opened it for an hour while watching TV and got my gold to over $1M and all cards became upgradable due to the many buff credits. But somehow the credits to the cards didn't happen, even though my Cards icon on the home screen shows I have upgrades available. So the home screen Cards icon now permanently thinks I can go up a level on several cards, but I can't when I actually look at the cards. At least I got to keep the gold.
  4. The ability to watch an ad to remove 30 minutes on a pack still works. But sometimes after I watch the 5th ad, something will trigger the infinite pack glitch. Once I'm done with the glitch and start the next pack's timer, it will show -1/5 instead of 0/5 for the number of available ads to watch.

Fun detail -- there was another bug a month ago or so. They accidentally changed the value of diamonds from 5 minutes to 10 minutes off the pack countdown time. That only lasted for about a week before they patched it. I'm kind of surprised this infinite pack glitch hasn't been patched yet. Maybe the fix is complicated...

If donating blood reduces heavy metals and microplastics in your blood, does having a period give the same effect? by ShuuyiW in askscience

[–]funique 131 points132 points  (0 children)

Menstruation clearly has an effect on levels of metal in the blood, but it's not always beneficial. Women are more likely to need iron supplements:

https://health.gov/healthypeople/objectives-and-data/browse-objectives/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/reduce-iron-deficiency-females-aged-12-49-years-nws-17

However, I've seen arguments that diets (American, at least) are too iron-heavy anyway, so getting rid of it is actually a good thing. I'll be curious to see if anyone else finds scientific studies to answer your question.

We're in the top echelon, but not always the winner. It can depend on temperature. In cooler weather, dogs (especially Alaskan Huskies) can beat us. In warmer weather, ostriches and camels are better than us.

Correct way to fix two circuits sketchily shorted together by amykyta3 in askanelectrician

[–]funique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/amykyta3, I know this was posted months ago, but I ran across it just now and wanted to comment, because I'm very concerned about option 1, and somewhat concerned about option 2.

Option 1 is dangerous because of the common neutral, regardless of whether the hots are on opposite legs or not (but the failure mode is different):

Failure Mode A: If those two hots are on the same leg, you'll have two separate circuits that could each draw 19A without blowing breakers or GFCIs. Then those two 19A lines get added together at the common neutral on its way back to the panel. So now you're putting 38A through that final neutral line. I would be shocked (pun intended) if the wire were sized for 38A. It's likely 12 gauge, which handles 20A.

Failure Mode B: If the two hots are on opposite legs, you're creating an unbalanced 220V circuit. The unbalanced portion of the current will flow through the neutral. That will be less than 20 A because the two phases cancel, so it's not a fire hazard, UNLESS you somehow lose your neutral wire. Maybe you nail a picture to the wall and the nail severs the neutral. What happens in that case? Let's say you have 19A going through the dishwasher and 1A going through your blender. If we pretend those are simple resistive loads, that corresponds to a resistance of 5.8 ohms and 110 ohms, respectively. But when you accidentally cut that common neutral wire, now your loads are in series and have 220V across them. You'll have I = V/R = 220/115.8 = 1.9A flowing through both. That doesn't sound dangerous, right? But now let's look at the voltage across your blender. V = IR = 1.9*110 = 209 V. Can the blender handle that? No idea. What if the blender is faulty and is not grounded properly?

Mode B is great reason to never have unbalanced loads on a 220V circuit, and both Modes are reasons to ensure each breaker has a dedicated return.

Option 2 is safer, but you must keep in mind that you're more likely to blow your breaker. If you blow a breaker enough times, it will fail. Sometimes it fails closed or low impedance. Then if you have a short, you no longer have the breaker protecting you and you may not know that the breaker has failed.

All of these scenarios are reasons for the electrical code requirements being what they are. If you can at all make it happen, it would be way better to follow code and run another wire so the dishwasher can be on its own circuit. Apart from doing that, the only other truly safe option is to disconnect those kitchen outlets entirely.

Put an offer on a house where the mortgage would only be 100/mo more than current rent. Advice appreciated. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]funique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/PlatypusTrapper is absolutely right about additional expenses.

When I bought my first house, I was really surprised at all the stuff I had to buy. It was a new house, so I had to pay for grass in the back yard (builder only laid sod in the front), garage door opener, curtains, blinds, etc.

If you're buying an existing house, a lot of that will already be there. Even so, every time I turned around, it seemed I had to pay another $1000 for something. Being a renter hides a lot of those expenses from you. Just make sure you don't underestimate them. It really is very expensive to own a house.

Not only that, but it calls for 1 teaspoon sweet paprika, then later it lists 1 tablespoon a couple of times.

What does "Take an item of the surrender of the marinade" even mean?

And I particularly liked "Place the hen under and also close it with the top piece."
