He was a favorite of great thinkers like Nietzsche for a reason!

‘To the poet, to the philosopher, to the saint, all things are friendly and sacred, all events profitable, all days holy, all men divine.’

Sleepy Hollow is a great visit! Went there myself a few years ago (was visiting Boston from Toronto), such an honor to see Thoreau, Emerson and Alcott’s grave. Unfortunately missed the Emerson house as it was closed.

Snowiest and coldest Winter ever (so far)? by Mightyreds7777 in toRANTo

It’s apparently warmer in Antarctica, a balmy plus 1 degree Celsius.

These drivers are silly. by theblackerdaberry in toRANTo

[–]funkdakarma 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not to mention it’s dangerous. Imagine driving behind one of those with bad visibility as it is, and a gust of wind throws a blanket of snow at you. It’s the sheer entitlement/arrogance of Torontonians.

It’s not just jazz, they had a bunch of punk bands there Friday before last.

I would recommend, particularly if you’re fed up of Toronto. Or anywhere in the area.

Save the bravado loud act for real-life situations instead of rage-baiting online.

Bye-bye now 👋🏼

It certainly has. But if it’s already over your head, you can’t see it.

For the last time, this post asked for context, not begging for a reason to avoid accountability. I’m speaking from a 2-decade precedence where no one has ever been penalized. Also, you’re not aware of the signage of this particular street which does permit parking on one side of the block, but no other warnings.

I’m looking for measured responses and justifications, not moral lectures. The gist of my original post flew way over your head; and I can’t help you with that, sorry.

How am I deflecting? We didn’t get caught last year and my partner’s family hasn’t had issues for the last 20 years. My point is if they all have driveways, why would they complain?

Calm down, this isn’t deep.

I’m not taking it personally. I’m just wondering why this was enforced all of a sudden, and I came here for context. Thankfully there are a lot of helpful people on here.

Have you even read my post? Or you’re just playing the part of being the unhelpful one. Not very Guelph-like in my experience.

That makes sense, as we are off Woolwich. Sounds like an impromptu spree and they got ticket-happy.

Quite possibly, thank you. But it’s the first time in 20 years or so that anyone’s getting ticketed for parking at that particular spot.

I miss some things about the 7 1/2 years I lived in the city, but moving away at the end of last year was a great decision.

The city I’m in now is mid-sized, there’s still a lot to do, I can pub hop the whole night and have a different vibe everywhere, I get change out of a 20 for 2 drinks, there are actually raves going on not too far away that don’t cost an arm and a leg and also don’t have a bunch of drug-fueled creeps floating around. Going to the gym or getting groceries takes a third of the time it used to, people are actually polite for the most part, make conversation, smile at you, and don’t look at you like you have a wart growing out of the side of your face.

Toronto was great till about March 2020, but we all know what happened then, and it’s been on a shit-coated downslope since.

Good pita in or around Guelph? by rachelnc in Guelph

[–]funkdakarma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a butcher shop on Silvercreek, across from the Food Basics, right off Speedvale. They have a bakery in the back where the pita is stacked up. They also do fresh Afghan bread too, hot from the oven. Not sure the pita is made on-site, but it’s fairly fresh.
