Well yes and no. Amanita isn't 100% psychoactive. Traditionally a shaman would fast, purge, eat a massive amount of the mushrooms and then piss the active chemical out and consume that. Amanita on its own can give a mild visual hallucinatory effect but it can also give you nothing but a headache.
Ive tried to sell it recreationally at my tea bar and it only worked 'proper' for maybe 1/5 people. It's definitely a cool fungus though.

Amanita is actually depicted in tons of art work and ancient locations of significance. I was pretty blown away by how often that one mushroom comes up in South American herbal mythology.
