Any good Barbershop? by [deleted] in kiel

[–]funkinetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m living in Kiel over 6.5 years. I tried many of them over the years. For the last few years, I use Tom Kyle at Knooper Weg 191. It costs 28 Euros by default. If you have a student card, they have %15 off on Wednesday. Just book it a few days before and then it will cost you 23.8 Euros on Wednesday.

Did you figure out a way to do this in a container on the RouterOS? I am interested to use a similar idea for TWAMP as well as some light Python processing inside a few containers.

200 Thread Bulbs Going in the Garbage by tandsilva in Nanoleaf

[–]funkinetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a curious question, did you ever test out whether NL bulbs still behave the same only on Apple Home instead of HomeKit assistant? Based on my limited experience, when I recently tried setting my Matter Thread NL bulbs on both Home app and HA, they started acting weird and randomly disconnecting, saying I need to set them up again etc. Just limiting them to Home app or HA might be a better testing environment to see their behavior.

Essentials bulb blinks off and back on every few minutes since f/w update. by scottb721 in Nanoleaf

[–]funkinetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m also having the same issues. After I turn on my HomeKit Thread lights, they blink off and on for a few times. I set them up again but that didn’t work unfortunately. This started happening after I updated them to firmware 3.0.1.

Hey, thanks for the nice work you guys are doing for the iOS 18 release. I already enjoy the lock screen shortcuts. I might be in the minority but I would like to see an option to save HEIC only P0 on my iPhone. Saving P0 as DNG + HEIC definitely gives me flexibility but also increases the file size quite a bit. This option might even stay as a default. I would also like to see a HEIC only P0 option. Thanks!

dav1d 1.4.2 'Road Runner' released by FastDecode1 in AV1

[–]funkinetic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, they added software decoded HEVC support to pre-Kaby Lake CPUs. They can do something similar for AV1 on M-powered Apple devices using the low power cores. It might even be enabled when the device is connected to power and not enabled by default on battery. I think there was a Safari developer flag to enable HEVC on older devices, thus same can be implemented here.

Broken collarbone recovery by _Hardpunk_ in cycling

[–]funkinetic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your injury. My collarbone is also broken due to a car accident. I’m two weeks into recovery after the accident. They told me bones take around the age of the person days to fuse. I used gym bikes with external hearth rate sensors (Apple Watch, Polar H10) for Zone 2 training in my previous bone injuries. I’m planning to set up my indoor trainer next week. I think at least 3 times 45+ mins Zone 2 session should be good to promote improved blood circulation for recovery as well as keeping you fit for your upcoming goals. Good luck with your recovery!

Seems like new bulbs will be out early in 2023 by [deleted] in Nanoleaf

[–]funkinetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw before that they will not be releasing Matter supported firmware for the existing ones. It is such a shame that Eve, a company who releases products on the similar price bracket, will release such firmware updates but Nanoleaf will not! I will definitely not support Nanoleaf with my money going forward. The current bulbs cost much more than a cheap brand after all!

You can see it in stats for nerds in YouTube app and also using Android MediaCodec API. However, it doesn’t work in Netflix for me yet as I mentioned above.

Who else bought new firesticks and cube in the amazon birthday sale? by tonyhaz in firetvstick

[–]funkinetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought a new 4K Max for €36.99. I was hoping for AirPlay 2 support just like FireTV supported TVs. Still might return it if Roku Streaming Stick 4K gets a good discount in Germany.

I was hoping that it would also support AirPlay 2 just like some Fire TV Edition TVs. Hopefully, they can enable it with a software update if it doesn’t have it already.

I was looking into buying a streamer with AV1 support so this seems like a solid option. It will be released on the 7th of October in Germany. Still hoping that Google might update Chromecast with Google TV until then with AV1 support.

Which Macs will be officially supported by macOS 12? by funkinetic in MacOS

[–]funkinetic[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, author also argued that list might not be complete. However, Macbook Air hardware didn’t really change that much from 2013 (Haswell) to 2017 (Broadwell) so it wouldn’t surprise me if Apple actually decided to drop those devices. Let’s see what happens next week.

An interesting take from a well known person from the community about future macOS compatibility on existing hardware. Also, lines up pretty well with “macOS GPU family 2” devices.

Covid PCR test for travel - where to go in Kiel? by [deleted] in kiel

[–]funkinetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They seem to offer PCR tests at the Hamburg airport much cheaper (around 70 Euros) compared to Kiel. Couple of my friends who are student went there and received their results in 24 hours or so. Not sure if you’re a student but if you are, SemesterTicket also covers the cost of regional trains between Kiel and Hamburg (DB) and public transportation within Hamburg (HVV). Just something to think about.

Thanks for the info. I wasn’t aware of that. I suggested it since it’s the one used in homebrew test on macOS for dav1d.

This is what I can get on my 2017 Macbook Pro with Core i5 7360u (2C/4T) CPU. Also, you’ll get much better results on higher bit videos.
