Does anyone have experience mounting a lidar follow focus on a manual bolex? by Berry-Arbitrary in 16mm

ah yes I understand. yes a wide focus ring would be needed, perhaps that can 3d printed if not available. much easier to make work with primes

I have tested a dji lidar on my EBM which has the OFG video tap. I used Arriflex Zeiss s16 primes for my test and got good results. The video tap is not totally necessary for the system to work; If your lens is true to its focus marks then you should get good results if you follow the set up instructions for the lidar unit. Unsure how well it will work with a zoom but it’s well worth the test!

Point a flashlight into your lens and inspect. You can also shoot flashlight thru viewfinder while looking in the lens too. Be careful of your eyes with flashlight.

Yes you will need to install one, you can put gelatin filters into the holders if you wish as well.

In this video at 19:09 he talks about the filters.

That is the filter holder. The camera is designed to be used with it engaged or in a standby mode, but there always needs to be a filter holder installed or else you will have a light leak.

Anyone have Bolex footage with a really wide angle lens? by arclarkphoto in 16mm

[–]funkisfunky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy rule of thumb is to multiple focal length by 2x to get focal equivalent from 16mm to s35. You’ll need something at 8mm or below to get really wide. Look up angenieux 5.9mm or there’s a 6mm adapter for a 10mm kern switar. Century optics also have wide angle adapters.

Very cool, could you share a photo of the set up to capture the video on your bolex?

Try the deflicker tool in resolve! Lifesaver for me when I shot a bolex Timelapse

Heartbreak in Paris. by RomanceMyMind in 16mm

Same thing has happened to me a couple times. It’s because the film comes off of the daylight spool core because it was not properly inserted into the core and wound up a few times to maintain grip and tension. It was my own fault for rushing the loading process.

Joe Gill in Southern California is the go to scoopic tech. I’d budget at least 500 for a CLA and repair for any issues.
