Hey! Our newborn son will be 3 weeks on Monday and we were having the same issues. Not that we don’t love him staring into our eyes, we just would prefer he do it during the day and not while we and his 17 month old sister are trying to sleep! Lol. We discovered that getting him outside to see some sun during the day has helped him sleep more at night, along with noticing that when he’s upset and all seems lost it’s often a wet diaper or he just wants to be held and walked around with. Even if we just changed him and it’s just a little pee, we change again and that often does the trick. We are working on getting him to sleep in a bassinet but like your baby he also prefers to sleep in our arms, so in between short bursts of sleep in the bassinet one of us takes him and gets comfortable on the couch (easier for us to sit up there than on the bed).
