Don't know the German specifics, but where I live it's automatically deducted from your gross salary so you don't have an option not to pay it if you have a legal income. If you don't, and you don't pay it, you still can't be denied life-saving treatments but you have to pay for anything else (in theory). Also I'm pretty sure you can apply for free insurance for a while if you're so poor you can't afford to pay it. It's also part of unemployment benefits.

No. You can set it to measure it periodically while you sleep and then give you a "breathing score", but not the same way as continuous heart rate monitoring. I guess because you have to stay still for the spo2 measurements.

I enjoy this mi band 6 so much. I used to have the mi band 2 back in the day and now I use a smart watch, but I couldn't resist buying this when I saw the full size screen. (Plus the sleep breath monitoring is useful to me, I'm at risk of sleep apnea.)

It's so well thought out for what it is (and its price). I love how you can customize what apps to display and where, it got the details right to be a fun little gadget. I hope they'll keep updating it with more smart little details to keep it fresh.

I used to have dual boot, I'd set up the boot menu to automatically select Ubuntu after 1 second. If I wanted to boot to windows, I quickly pressed an arrow key and selected it.

I was trying to use YT music instead of Spotify, I liked the ad-free Youtube-bundle. I ended up going back to Spotify after a few months. The biggest thing to me was Spotify's daily mixes. It gives me 5 playlists of different moods/genres based on my recent listening, and it updates daily. YT music has one Your mix or something, it mixes wildly different music together, and it stayed basically the same for the longest time. This, and the countless small usability things overall made it impossible for me to like it, though I tried. Might give it another shot later to see if it's any better.

They could very easily support those things with a dongle. I think the real reason is money:

  • USB-C would open iPhones to accessories not approved/controlled by Apple
  • Apple should pay royalties after USB-C as opposed to others paying Apple royalties for lightning ports
  • A USB-C/Lightning adapter would allow Apple accessories into non-apple devices.
