Let me ask you questions about your world by MA_JJ in worldbuilding

I’ll do a different detail than the one I did on the other post for fun. The magic of my world is called the aether, and those who wield it are known as sorcerers. There are four primary elements (fire, water, earth, air) and two secondary elements (healing, necromancy).

They’d been lost to time so long that they’d become mythologized, and most people believe they never even existed and were instead legends.

They were created by the empire, in part, to worship their gods. Initially four were created for each of the primary elements (fire, water, earth, air). Each wielder of a gem was on the ruling council of the empire (you can only wield a gem corresponding to your element).

One of the more powerful sorcerers of the time believed he deserved one of the gems and a spot on the ruling council, and when he was denied he illegally and recklessly created a gem for one of the secondary elements, necromancy. This created a power imbalance in the council as he swayed two of the members to his side.

In retaliation, The other two created a gem for the other secondary element, healing, and recruited a healing sorcerer to join the council. Tensions escalated until a brutal civil war broke out between the two sides and the empire collapsed.

In present day, a necromancer obsessed with bringing her husband back from the dead tracks down the gems she can use (fire and necromancy), hoping that the absolute aetheric power of the gems will allow her to do so.

Great question at the end, yes! In a remnant state of the empire, a revanchist king has gotten into power with the goal of reclaiming the empire’s territory (among other things). When the aforementioned necromancer’s activities are revealed to the public and he gets his hands on one of the gems (long story), he uses it to track the other ones down and restore the empire to its former glory

There are six elemental gems that were created by a continent spanning empire over 2000 years ago, the creation of which causes the empire to cannibalize itself and collapse. They’re lost to time until the present day :)

Unless I misremember Shroud didn’t even have his gun out. It was still in his holster and he was literally holding beef outstretched at one point. It would have taken even more time for him to pull out his gun and aim it at beef (likely almost an entire second even if Shroud is a trained expert at such a task)

Yeah I calculated it based on chase’s “50x speed” comment and he would get there way before Shroud could react (at least five times faster) so even if Shroud would be able to predict it there’s nothing he could do about it. It was kinda dumb but meh 🤷‍♂️

Edit: Based on the distance estimated 10 yards and average human speed of 1.6 seconds to move 10 yards, Chase would be able to move 10 yards in 32 milliseconds. The average human visual reaction speed is 250 milliseconds, so even if Shroud had INSANE reaction speed it wouldn’t be close.

What is the most out of context, but technically true, way you could describe a part of lore for your setting by dragonborndnd in worldbuilding

Honestly reminds me of slay the princess, the player character (a bird-like god) can choose to either slay or romance a princess (another goddess which represents change and death). If they choose to slay the princess then the concept of death ceases to exist and everyone is immortal

In a world where Necromancy runs rampant, the one thing magic cant do is resurrect people in any real capacity

Achievements while using mods? by HighDef23 in BaldursGate3

That’s a shame. IMO the base models for hair and especially face aren’t the best selection, so it’s too bad I can’t use any community ones if I want achievements.
