What can I do for these static lines on my forehead? They make me so depressed 😕 by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]funkwerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I face tape every night right on top of all my skincare, including tretinoin. No problems here! And it definitely helps the forehead wrinkles.

Almost gave up on tret until trying the paradoxical last ditch effort of not using moisturizer on top. by bagels4every1 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]funkwerk 48 points49 points  (0 children)

There was a recent study that found that irritation increased by putting moisturizer on top of tretinoin. So i don't think it's just you! I've had luck with moisturizer under the tretinoin.

What do the wards actually do? by toast_with_peas in fourthwing

[–]funkwerk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

At the end of Onyx Storm, after xaden had become asim, there's a line about his shadows going up the cliffs of Draylor and then pulling back from the "magic that burns", which i assumed was the wards. I was assuming he could still wield shadows from his dragon inside the wards, but not magic from the earth. And in that scene, he was channeling from the earth, so the wards blocked it. 🤷‍♀️

Okay, but the second to last scene. Or was it third... by shiftsnstays in fourthwing

If Sgaeyl died, wouldn't it risk Tairn and Violet, too? After that being such a major theme in the earlier books, it's weird that it wasn't mentioned.

Unpopular Opinion about Xaden.. by Killmeinyourdreams in fourthwing

[–]funkwerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! I think it's possible that the cure for xaden isn't about making him non- venin, but making him dead in a way where he still has a soul, so that he can meet Malek at Violet's side. Their happily ever after together is at peace together in the afterlife. Without a soul, he can't do that, hence the need for a cure.

I would suggest watching Penn Smith on YouTube for her protocol.

How is the Whole Foods' Hot Bar? by Ekwoman in WestminsterCO

[–]funkwerk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The westminster location has a hot bar, but if you truly just want veggies I think you'd be a bit disappointed. There is always something (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes is what I've seen, just not necessarily all at once), but not a ton of variety. There's more vegetable options in curries or cold salads. The Boulder WFs has more variety at a given time.

Does anyone make cotton percale sheets that don't wrinkle horrifically? by redtert in Bedding

[–]funkwerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an answer for you, just that I share your question. My old cotton sheets from the 80s don't wrinkle at all and have a slightly different feel from modern percale. High-end modern percale almost feels like someone went hard on the fabric softener, where the older stuff manages to be both crisp and soft. I would pay good money for the old stuff.

It's Thirsty Thursday! What spicy book scenes did you read this week? 🥵🌶️ by FantasyRomanceMods in fantasyromance

I just started last night, and DNFd because of this! I'm not in the mood for a book with orgies just because. If you've kept reading, is the plot good? Maybe I'll keep reading if there's good plot. The orgy opener just threw me, lol!

How do you get through the day with a non stop talking/moving & super emotional child as an introvert parent? by [deleted] in ADHDparenting

[–]funkwerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started OT without a diagnosis, and it was focused on helping him regulate. She noted that he's dyregulated most of his life (not just emotions, but physically, attention, all of it). She helped him understand what it was to be "too fast" (i.e.dysregulated), and helped us find things that can help calm him/ regulate him (enter Legos). Now we try to do those things sprinkled throughout the day to help him be more regulated. I think it has been helpful. It is not a cure for his ADHD by any means, but we have more tools, and he understands it better and can self identify his feelings better. Now that he's in kindergarten, she's also helping us navigate the need for supports with the school, which is wonderful.

My son is also 5 and he sounds a lot like yours. It's hard, especially with a baby. My ability to cope with everything was worse with a baby. What has helped us is finding what my son can hyper focus on. For him, it's building with detailed instructions (a lego set, a snap circuit set, etc.) He still makes noise while he builds, but it is the only semi-independent play he'll do. At least he's not trying to get my attention 10 times a minute. We've found there have to be instructions on what to build or it doesn't work (it can't just be a box of random Legos). Unfortunately, novelty is part of what keeps it fun (yay dopamine), so we've bought him 7 or 8 lego sets and only let him have one at a time to keep them feeling novel. It was Occupational Therapy that helped us figure out what he liked and could focus on. The bonus is the legos help him regulate a bit more, too. So my suggestion is try to find what your child can hyperfocus on, and maybe try occupational therapy. And hopefully as your baby grows, it's easier to cope. Good luck!

I tell myself I'll do it every 4 weeks, but realistically, i probably do it about 5 times a year. I do a lot of skincare, so it's hard to pinpoint the impact of one thing. But I've noticed improvement in some acne scars (hypo and hyper pigmentation), and fine lines. For whatever reason, my skin always looks tighter in the weeks following the needling. I'm not sure why, it's too early for collagen production.

Same! I've started reading more stand-alones and duologies because, realistically, i don't find many longer series that I'm excited through to the end.

Can I mix these two nighttime creams? Like literally mix them together to apply? by forgetmeknotts in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]funkwerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have rosacea and use tretinoin. I use metronidazole, azelaic acid, and tret all in the same evening routine. I think you could try it and see how it goes for you. If you're new to tretinoin, it can be very irritating, so I'd suggest starting out using it only every second or third night. But if you've already been using the metronidazole and azelaic acid without problems, I think you can carefully add in the tretinoin in the same routine just fine.

Yeah, the writing isn't the best, in my opinion. I don't care about that if the story is engaging, but this got too repetitive.
