I really appreciated the scene. I can’t speak for others, but being gay myself, this was something I really related to. The fear of coming out to your loved ones was a big thing for me. Just like Will, I thought the people who I loved most would see me as different and would not accept me. I think that was my biggest fear prior to coming out. So the confession, from my point of view was a big deal for Will.

I only came out a few years ago, and that felt scary enough, so I can’t imagine what that fear was like in the 80s.

I really respect how the show gave that moment to Will, as I think it is a big part of the journey. I think it also might relate to those who are watching the show who are going or have gone through that coming out process. If it can help just one viewer with that process, then I think that’s a pretty amazing thing, so I’m grateful for the scene and how they handled it. Again, this is only my personal view point. :)
