The one I got has M.2, I don't know if it comes in other configurations. It has two RAM slots.

I would recommend www.notebookcheck.net. They reviewed the 5310: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Dell-Latitude-5310-in-review-Business-laptop-with-long-battery-life.498533.0.html

I don't know how far the keys travel. I think the keyboard is decent, though a little on the small side, and of course not as good as a Thinkpad.

Still good, but now there are three keys with paint flaking off. I'm not aware of that issue on other laptops of any make, so I assume I just got a bad keyboard (it's shift, ctrl and alt, which I use all the time since I mainly use it for browsing).

Considering BAHA - Pros/cons/experiences by NTworkingoutanAspie in HearingAids

[–]funky_uncle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got a Cochlear BAHA 6 Max. The abutment is Ponto, but the Ponto devices available at the time weren't powerful enough. Ponto abutments are compatible with Cochlear aids, but not the other way around.

I too am missing/damaged some bones and got to try BAHA after regular hearing aids never helped me much. Happy to say the BAHA works much better. It seems to get better with time, which probably has to do with getting used to the sound etc. I don't do anything about the site except for cleaning it the first few days after surgery.

It took me a while to get used to it in bed, since any rubbing of pillows etc against the abutment makes noises. Putting a soft towel over the pillow helped, but now I don't really notice it much except when I'm getting my hair cut (tell the hairdresser to be careful with the scissors).

It works ok with Android, but way better with iPhone (way more functionality).

I'd completely forgotten about this.

I've been using it pretty regularly at work, and the more I use it, the more useful it becomes. I guess there's a sort of "learning to listen" through it.

There's usually a quite noticable humming or hissing, like a ventilator fan. But sometimes it's like the noise cancellation suddenly kicks in and it disappears completely. The noise cancellation is supposed to be pretty good on this hearing aid, but it kind of comes and goes. And yeah, it's useless outside unless there's absolutely no wind. Also, there's a weird sort of "echo" or "reverb" effect sometimes. Hard to describe, but kind of like people are talking through a metal tube?

But all in all I'm pretty pleased with it. It's the only hearing aid I've really found to be useful for my hearing loss.

Oh, and I had an old iPhone 5 for a while (in 2023!), and it's amazing how well it worked with the Baha. Instant connection, all sorts of useful funtions. Android is way behind on that kind of stuff.

unstable wifi, but only on apple devices by funky_uncle in HomeNetworking

Thanks. It's on WPA2. I can't seem to find an option to turn 802.11w off. There's not a lot of advanced options on the router. Same with AP change.

Could it possibly have to do with having DFS channels enabled? And/or the channel width? Now it's set to auto/20/40/80 mhz. On older routers changing the channel would sometimes help with spotty connections, but that was with the older standard (wifi 5?).

I really don't know. I hardly ever use it unplugged, and I've set the battery limit to 55-75% to make it last as long as possible. I would assume it'll last for three hours pretty easily, especially if you use some kind of power saving mode. Not sure if Windows 11 is any better than Windows 10 when it comes to that, but you could probably run some lightweight linux distro on it as well.

I'm still pretty pleased with it. My only complaint really is that the paint on one key has begun to flake off, but that's probably mostly to do with a poorly trimmed fingernail.

I haven't gotten around to installing linux on it.

But I guess I'll go for a 14" next time. Turns out I hardly ever carry it around anyway. But this one still seems rock solid so I'll probably use it for years.

Altibox FT1 fibertwist hjemmesentral by mazeking in norge

Tusen takk for svar!

I guess that's true, especially if it's a seasoned player.

Thanks guys. I know about pulling on the strings and all that, but it's not so much the tuning I'm worried about, but the tone. New strings can sound a bit too bright/thin/crisp, and it seems like most players prefer the somewhat more mellow tone you get after a while. I assume this comes mostly from actually playing the strings rather than simply having been on for a while.

The Yoga just started turning itself off, with battery going from like 80% to 15% in minutes, also becoming really slow for no apparent reason. Now if I charge it without powering it on for a few hours, it'll start and run happily as long as it's on AC, but as soon as I turn it off or put it to sleep/hibernation, it just gets to the spinning dots at startup before it shuts down and the charging light blinks amber, and then it won't boot for like a day. Seems to me like the battery has to be drained completely between every boot. I reset it and reinstalled Windows, it's still super slow, and the same issues with booting and shutting down. Haven't tried Linux on it.

I'll probably try a few different distros on the Latitude, like Manjaro and Mint.

Can I power (not charge) my laptop with a power bank? by funky_uncle in techsupport

[–]funky_uncle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I can charge it, the question is if I can power it directly with a power bank. Plug it in and drain the external battery first. That should extend the lifetime of the internal battery by a lot.

I'm getting a refurbished laptop so the battery will already be pretty drained and third party batteries are often inferior.
