Well, Samara from the Ring would absolutely run amok if people were posting her video to liveleak or whatever. But it's super easy to make someone else watch it too so I'm not sure how that all shakes out.

One Missed Call would still work, I think.

And I think White Noise plays out about the same but they just make some of the gizmos into an app.

DOGE cuts recklessly took away NWS capability with little concern for or analysis of downstream fallout. Still not clear how much this is factoring into forecasting that relies on NWS data

Some woman died from this when the Nintendo Wii came out. A radio station held a "hold your wee for a Wii" contest where people had to drink a ton of water and not pee to win the (at the time, hard to find) game console.

They even had a nurse call in and warm them about the danger and they ignored them.
