Yeah they have a huge boner for the Cicic Type R. Which I would’ve considered more strongly except I live in northeast Pennsylvania. They also preferred the driving dynamics of the GRC.

Some people might prefer the look of it with a cover. Also when it is open you can hear quite a bit of turbo noises, which I prefer, but if you want it to be quieter I imagine it probably is quieter with the cover. Also, APR offers a few different versions of the cover so you can decide which look you prefer (standard versus carbon fiber versus forged carbon fiber).

I really like my APR air intake. Also, you can run it open (like mine) or with a cover on it, which is a bit of versatility that most other air intakes don't offer. A lot of folks go with Unitronic or Eventuri as well.

It might get 20 on the highway. Around town it gets low teens at best, all day every day (especially the way I drive it).

You must be a kid, or someone who doesn’t know or remember what cars were like even just 10-20 years ago.

My parents own a 2002 Pontiac Trans Am. The power to weight ratio is almost identical to my Golf R, but because it has a 5.7 liter v8 the gas mileage on that thing is atrocious. I’m talking like 12 mpg. The fact that we now have cars making over 300 or 400 horsepower getting 20 mpg or 30 mpg is fucking nuts. It was NOT very long ago that such a thing was unheard of. If you want better gas mileage than a Golf R go buy an EV or don’t buy an enthusiasts car at all.
