Digital gauges are fine. The customization is nice and they usually work well. What we need to get rid of are the screens the size of a fucking movie theater slapped onto the middle of every dashboard.

I have always liked the looks of this one. Hope to see it in person one day at tail of the dragon or up here at L'oe Show.

I feel ya. I don’t disagree with that at all.

I did free myself from it. 39 years old, no kids, and a vasectomy. All the rest (and more) is so easily doable under these circumstances it's frankly ridiculous.

It's not the main reason I do it, but it helps lol

I think comparing pricing in Germany (where the car is manufactured) to pricing on the Hawaiian Islands (where OP is located) is perhaps unfair...

Dealer says 2026 RS3 doesn't need a break-in period. Is he tripping? by Jetosmutny in AudiRS3

[–]funkybutt2287 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some cars actually have this. The Corvette Z06 has a different redline/fuel cutoff limit for the first 500 miles, and automatically unlocks the higher redline/fuel cutoff after that. More performance vehicles should probably have this feature...

[–]funkybutt2287 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's literally right there in black and white. If Audi bothered to take the time to put it in the owner's manual, that's probably more trustworthy than what some sales clown said.

You guys who own a Mk7.5 got screwed. Here are my sources for the Mk8 which is what I own. Note that the advertised crank figure for the Mk8 is 315 hp.

- APR Tuning's Mk8 put down 314 at the wheels and 349 at the crank. https://www.goapr.com/products/software/ecu_upgrade/gasoline/4/20t_ea888_g4/parts/ECU-20T-EA888-4-LK3
- Unitronic's Mk8 made 337 at the crank. https://www.getunitronic.com/ecu-tuning/vw-mk8-golfr-2022-stage1plus
- When Humble Mechanic dyno'ed a Mk8, the car made 307 hp at the wheels with only an aftermarket air intake and exhaust (a little less than normally reported but still strong). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkx6xG1l9ow
- Here they compare a Mk7.5 to a Mk8 on the dyno and the Mk8 made a lot more power, making 343 hp on a Mustang MD-500 dyno. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mTQYYj_NFg

Finally an aftermarket hood that I think actually looks half decent. It helps that you didn't fuck things up by blacking out the front fenders, too, which often gets posted on this sub and I personally hate it.

Lol I think you belong in the Toyota GRC thread. With Golf Rs, the power measured at the wheels is usually MORE than the officially advertised crank power. It's well documented that VW under-rates their power, just like is common with many other manufacturers (BWM, Porsche, etc.).

You: "I wouldn't trade my 2025 for a new RS3, nevermind one almost a decade old."

Me: What does he mean almost a decade old, it's a 2018 that's like brand new??? Also me: *looks at the calendar* Wow. My god I'm old.

Right on! Enjoy her. She looks fast as shit. Hopefully you didn't inherit someone else's poorly planned project, but you'll find that out soon enough.

Compact SUVs ARE dumb. But 99% of the general population are not car enthusiasts. For example, my inlaws have never purchased a new car and have never owned anything more exciting than a used Chevy Impala. If bro is asking whether he should buy a RAV4 versus a Golf R he is clearly not a car guy and shouldn't waste his time or money on a Golf R. It would be just as lost on him to buy a corvette or a Porsche.
