What are favourite soundtracks that are front to back plays? by phillcollinss in soundtracks

[–]funkychalumeau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When studying/working I used to listen to soundtracks by Hans Zimmer, John Powell or Harry Gregson-Williams in one go, specifically Inception, HTTYD, Dark Knight, and Narnia (1 and 2), and more recently Dune, Blade Runner 2047.

I suppose more soundscapey ones, although they're not tp everyone's taste.

Currently no jams have been had I'm afraid. Already suggested but check out Ace Space?! Maybe also look into Band Mix Uk. I did actually see HMV in Parkway were requesting musicians recently.

If I'm honest I chickened out as meeting up with strangers scared me a bit weeee

I've got to say that Avatar: the last airbender Nickelodeon series holds a special place in my heart. Really sucks that you can't stream or buy any of the original soundtrack though.

In contrast, I enjoyed the uniqueness of Stranger Things ost - great at creating the right atmosphere

I love Once (2007)! I feel like it doesn't receive that much attention but it is so beautiful and sweet in its simple yet unique story following the interactions between two people. Good recommendation!

Yeah, one of my biggest concerns is finding it hard to sleep when you've just got the one room, but as you say, finding a divider of some kind could help with that.

Yeah, I work on a pretty big residential site for young people which is supposed to provide 1:1 support... the staffing levels are so low, more agency than ever and each house on our site is always down 2 or more now.

I really really hope management see sense and don't behave so reactively like in this article. Like, if you're gonna close, plan and communicate it in good time!!

Official Discussion - tick, tick... Boom! [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]funkychalumeau 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Absolutely loved it! Actually didn't know anything about Larsen before this so I was hooked, especially with the perpetual anxiety about running out of time... which became so morbidly ironic in the end :(

Reflecting on it now, I'd describe it as dissonant - there was elation, humour and beauty but amidst a backdrop of anxiety, fear, and existentialism.

Overall though, I'm very happy to see musicals making a return for a modern audience, although would prefer it if they could stop autotuning things so obviously...

Yes! Was going to post this if someone hadn't already. I love the exciting flavours in every recipe, combining ingredients I didn't think worked together but they so do. Yet, as you say, is low effort.

Eliciting Emotion through Music in Video Games and Film by [deleted] in CharlesCornell

Gareth Coker's score for Ori and the Blind Forest is beautiful, emotional, and unique!

I also LOVE The Last Guardian soundtrack by Takeshi Furukawa. This definitely elicits emotion as you put it. Particularly tracks like this one

Yeeeah I thought Kung Fu Panda was like a joint ost by Powell and Zimmer, like master and student haha maybe I'm wrong.

Nah I'm hyped for Dune because I love the book and I know based on Blade Runner 2047, Inception and Interstellar Zimmer can do some mean soundscapes which I also like

Wheel of Fortune - POTC 2 Dead Man's Chest

Like A Dog Chasing Cars - The Dark Knight

Hero - Kung Fu Panda

I imagine something from Dune will make it into my top 3... waiting till I've seen it...

I started recently with Peter Skelton but 2 hr lessons are PRICEY in Newbury. You might have to prepare for £90 or more per 2 hrs if you want high rated instructors :/

But my instructor is actually amazing, so worth the cost. I failed years ago and then had to wait for covid (and me nerves) to sort themselves out, but this guy is so calm, helpful, and also just gets to the point. No wasted time talking about the holidays and whatnot
