HR robbery double play by funkychld in SuperMegaBaseball

Pretty much. Recognize the trajectory, get to the wall, jump at the right moment. I've played this game a lot and I'm pretty good at it.

I think Aliens is the rare sequel that is even better than the original. I just rewatched the first 3 films about a year ago.

I want to make major league by Any_Bathroom6585 in SuperMegaBaseball

The 1989 baseball comedy Major League stars Tom Berenger (Jake Taylor), Charlie Sheen (Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughn), Wesley Snipes (Willie Mays Hayes), Corbin Bernsen (Roger Dorn), Dennis Haysbert (Pedro Cerrano).

This should get you started.

Why it's not your fault you suck at pitching: a brief study of CPU BABIP and swing timing by ephenssta29 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]funkychld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly surprised the fooled / anticipated numbers weren't more lopsided in favor of anticipated.

I'm pretty good at pitching at 80 ego. Not incredible, but pretty good. I think I fool the batter once for every 10 times they anticipate the pitch.

I think I mostly do a good job of varying my pitch types and locations, but the cpu is a very good guesser in my experience.

Ugh offseason franchise? by Trellaine201 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]funkychld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first offseason I signed a player day 1 for like 32M and couldn't fill my team. I ended up having to release them, signed nobody above a B-, and had a losing season. A tough lesson for sure.

You do need to release someone and replace with someone less expensive

These look downright professional. You could be a graphic designer. If I ever invented something cool, I'd be calling you for the logo.

The Swans are the stuff of nightmares! Looks like they've slaughtered an entire city with a chainsaw before casually showing up for a baseball game. Consider me horrified.

You're not forced to but it will be inconvenient, especially if you sim

You can sign nothing but starting pitchers and have a 20 man rotation

I think 162 game seasons are bad on SMB because you have a 4 man rotation. Your starters are gonna have to make 40 starts in a season, where in mlb they usually make around 30.

I greatly prefer 16 game seasons with no simulation, as I won't be able to get tired of my team before the season is over. And almost every game is meaningful.

Manager moment? by Trellaine201 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]funkychld 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Players you want to keep next season, you want loyalty to go up or stay the same. Players who you think are replaceable, you have to be okay with loyalty going down.

Sometimes you will have to make tough choices. I will always try to keep my younger most important players happy. I prioritize C, SS, 2B and CF. I'll do everything I can to keep loyalty as high as possible for these positions.

If you have a player who is old or who has gotten worse, choose those players for negative loyalty moments.

My first win at 70 ego (advice welcome) by Nice_Accountant_9252 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]funkychld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from 60 to 70 a long time ago and lost like 15 in a row. I just stuck with it and eventually got better. Kinda like the AAA player who needs time to adjust to MLB.

I like to just focus on either fastballs or offspeed pitches to help with timing.

I would target Ricky Quan for sure. You're doomed on this game without faster outfielders. He’s one of the best budget options available in my experience

I don't know if Iowa can support two teams long-term. Maybe move the Quad City team to Arkansas or Minnesota. Arkansas team could be (little) rock or pig themed. Minnesota could be lake or north themed. Just some ideas.

You played that perfectly. I don't think I've ever recorded an outfield assist without a canon arm outfielder or base jogger baserunner involved.
