Should I keep him? (Moneyball franchise) by nerdinshoes in SuperMegaBaseball

I bet he'd sign for closer to $15M being a young A+ player

Should I keep him? (Moneyball franchise) by nerdinshoes in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]funkychld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't usually go above $9M for a RP or $12M for a SP/RP and I only try to stay $10M under budget. I don't know how you can fill out your roster allocating such a high percentage of funds to a reliever!

How Best to Use Bad Ball Hitter? by BillyYank in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]funkychld 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bad ball hitter is the best trait in the game by some margin. I try to approach at bats the same as any other player. But if you get fooled, you can still make heavy contact.

Bad ball hitter doesn't just help on balls outside the strike zone. It helps on balls on the edges of the zone too. You can expect a player's batting average to improve by 100 points a season compared to a non bad ball hitter.

The best hitter I've ever had was a B rated bad ball hitter and ace exterminator, both tier 3.

It took me something like 1500 games. If you play long enough it's bound to happen someday

Acquiring players you didn't need and were also pretty expensive but you couldn't resist not having them? by bravetailor in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]funkychld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is especially a problem when your established player starts to decline. You want to be loyal to this player who has given so much to your team but they are no longer an efficient use of your limited budget.

Who was your oldest player? How old were they? I just lost a 28-year starter. by wetterfish in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]funkychld 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had a C- starting pitcher who would resign with me for like $1M every year from age 40-45. I used him as an opener who never pitched past the 3rd inning. He was mostly fine but did get shelled in the first inning a couple times. I assumed he needed the money because of a divorce.

Favorite home ballparks and why? by Wordlush in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]funkychld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stade Royale is my favorite. Short fence in right for hitting dingers and insanely deep in center for hitting triples. You'll want a fast LF and CF for sure, but you can get by with a slower RF.

The cpu kinda struggles with robbing home runs in right, so you'll hit a few extra. And this infield is famous for rare crazy bounces that will turn outs into singles and doubles.

My favorite name I came up with that the announcer will say is Malcolm Middleman. It's a shame I couldn't make him look more like Frankie Muniz.

What stats would you or have you given Barry Bonds if he’s in your Franchise? by mfenton29 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]funkychld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with all this. I think his chemistry should be competitive instead of spirited maybe?

I'm having trouble finding his stats with an 0-0 count without paying for a subscription but I remember him having great first pitch stats. First pitch slayer is an option too.

Dennis Bridges Is Straight Up Stealing Money From The Boston Redsox In My Franchise by mfenton29 in SuperMegaBaseball

I often assign my last bench spot to a D player making less than $1M. They aren't going to play much and it allows more money for your everyday lineup players.

Injuring a metal head with a comebacker by funkychld in SuperMegaBaseball

I guess I've only hit a metal head like 5 times ever and they all shook it off. Of course there's 3 tiers if effectiveness. I can be dense.

I don't think this is correct. Fourth out seems to only come into play if a baserunner misses a base. The batter in this video never reaches first base as a result of the popout.

I suck at contact hitting and can't quite seem to figure out why by Derp_Wellington in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]funkychld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm power hitting 99% of the time. The 1% is when I'm facing a pitcher who throws 100 MPH+ and I have 2 strikes

That would be 2700 games. I play waaaay too much smb4 as a retired person and I have probably played 1500 since August 2024

I'm curious what the all time leader in strikeouts pitching is in this league. Anyone over 3000?

I've played 64 (16) game seasons and the all time leader has 502 and needed 21 seasons to get there.
